  • Are you plastic welding with the bumper fitted to the car? I think the end result will show whether the bumper will suit the car or not, as we can't see that much atm.

  • Thank god we have the Polo... At these temperatures the almost new battery died in the wife's almost new Volvo, but with a little persuation from the Polo it started anyways. The Polo rolls daily to w

Thanks all!

Yes. the boot will get it's own treatment too. Been trying to locate a Golf V or VI boot the past weeks for donor sheetmetal and locking without any luck. As this projekt is on limited budjet I'm not willing to pay 3-400Euros for a boot and then cut it up for a few donorparts....

So, if anyone out there know about a slightly damaged (= cheap or even for free) Golf V boot where the center area around the lock still is unharmed I'm interested!! ;)

Superb work there mate. Very well executed and looks very smart, hope your knees ok! sounds rough man,

Thanks! Now both sides are fitted. Just needs some fine adjustment with the heatgun and melt the two bumperparts together from the inside too to keep the shape after I remove the mounting screws.

Do you have like a seperate rear valance to go on?

Or anything which will be covering the exhaust etc?

The Golf VI have a separate valance that goes under there. I will either shorten one of those or make some kind of "diffuser" like I've seen on some Scirroco kits.

Or this kind but with dual pipes in the center:

In both cases above the diffuser will probably be made from polished aluminium as I prefer working in metal... ;)

But most likely the valance will be very subtle as on this one and with just the single exhaust.

That's pretty much what I was hoping you would be going for.

Can't wait to see it finished

Had been looking at the organdonor Passat bumper for awhile now too and was thinking that I might be able to use the upper corners from that too...

So, I decided to cut out one of the corners and testfit it... Looks like I might have to melt that to the Polo bumper too....

i haven't looked at this thread since you originally posted it, but i have to say I'm interested to see what the final out come will look like.

keep it up fella.

Now widened the front wing arches by 20mm at the front. They normally are goes in towards the front.

This mod also is the start of the front mod. Will make it easier to start fitting the new front as it rounds off the front... ;)

wow, bookmarked this one.

me too awesome work :D

the rear is so nice. might be worth getting a mould made when finished and selling a load on ebay. i bet your get lots of interest. meanwhile every time you sold one your car would be a little less unique.

Unfortunately no major progress here as we've moved out to the summerhouse in mid June and I have had a lot of work there too... (You see the house in the background.)

Yesterday I finally decided to fit the new headlights though..

DSC_0564.jpg

Oh, yes, Here's how the rear have been looking the past month... Dont want to paint any basecoat or anything untill I've got the shapes perfect.... 8-)

Very impressed :D

Still just a teaser.. ;) Made in the fantastic photo editor Paint... The Audi A4 donor bumper arrives tomorrow. ;)

Having a debadged front grill would clean the front end up a treat I think. The VW logo looks too big for the fron, but the bumper looks sweet!

That is still the orignal 6n badge. Plans are that I will use the grille and badge from the latest 6R model.. ;)
