I have taken the plung and bought myself a set of new G60 wheel's for the winter months so my ATS Cups will be tucked away until spring. So my quesion is what size tyre can i put on these to get a nice bit of stretch. The G60 wheels are 15x6 offset is 35. My ATS Cups are 15x7 with a 185 x 45 tyre with a slight strech but i want a bit more stretch on the G60's post up your pic's please of 15x6 please and tyre size thanks

Will look daft mate, 6J is not wide enough for stretch to look right in the massive 6N2 arches.

So what are my options.

I had a slight stretch on 6j's on my 6n, was running 155/55 14's. I didn't need the stretch it was because low profile tyres for 14's cost a bomb.

If I were you I would go for something like a 185/45/15. Won't be stretched but nice and low profile and will sit in the 6n2 arches nicely.

185/45 is a good option, you could do with the extra grip in this weather.

So what are my options.

Better than pointless stretch.

I really would not want to be running 165's in this weather.

When it comes to steels I prefer correct tyre sizes.

Agreed, cut through the snow much better. Wider tyres don't usually give you more grip, the contact patch remains the same size, just changes shape. I ran 165s on the polo last winter, was passing 4x4s that couldn't get up hills!

To the OP - you've bought winter wheels, use some logic and put some winter tyres on, will handle and stop better in wet weather and they really come into their own.

But I still need a descent look. Please can someone post up a few pic's of G60 rim's as i need to order the tyres in the morning.

Also, whats the point in having winters if you are not going to run proper winter tyres on them. It's not like ATS cups are hard to clean, or even a rare/expensive wheel, may as well just leave them on if you're going to run stretch on winters.

X2 winters are to replace polished unlaquered wheels on salty roads and to afford more grip in poor weather. I'd have got smaller steels in order to be able to get cheaper winter tyres, and bigger sidewalls are useful for snowy days when hitting a kerb is more likely. If you don't solve any of these problems, why waste your money?

I think Wales is the only place not to have any major snow.

155/60s, so will offer quite a bit of stretch on a 6J, but be a bit better than your average summer tyre for grip. Also, they are almost identical in profile to a 195/45.

I wouldn't stretch a winter tyre, but these aren't strictly a winter tyre. Might suit your needs...

Read the first post ? Well the G60 rim's are on along with a fresh MOT. The tyres i had fitted in the end are 185x45x15 the same as fitted to my ATS Cup's so all is well. The G60 could do with some spacer's just to push them out a tad.
