A question about invalid insurance.

Featured Replies

I have friends that are driving around with modified cars and have not declared their mods, I'm just wanting to know what would happen if they got pulled over and the police checked, or if they crashed?

Would they get 6 points for having invalid insurance?

Any info would be appreciated, cheers.

Why what would the insurance people say?

Yeah friends haha, they're trying to convince me to mod my car and not declare it aswell, but I'm too worried about losing my licence.

You can get fucked by traffic officers for the littlest undeclared mod. I got pulled a few months back and the copper rang up my insurance and went through every mod on my car. I hadn't got around to telling my insurance about HID's and he got my insurance revoked for undeclared mods!!! Even though everything else was declared :-/

Also gave me 3 points and £60 fine for having "stiff suspension".....traffic will look for anything to fuck you over with!

Yep you can get 6 points and a fine, and within the first 2 years of driving that means retest, most coppers are too lazy too check your mods although you get in real shit if you have a crash.

Isn't worth it, there have also been a few cases of insurance companies taking people too court and sue them for fraud because of undeclared mods, although that would rarely happen.

It's because people do this that everyones premiums go up. If you don't declare you are driving without insurance, if you have an accident writing your car off it's not covered and you will get prosecuted. Should you seriously injure someone else the insurance will pay out for them, then chase you for the money, doubtful you'd have it, so they spread the costs through everyone who legitimately has insurance.

The main causes of our premiums going up are; people with no insurance, and people who can't drive.

Insurers will rarely lose out because some chump has stuck a pipercross on on the sly! - They still get a premium off the 'offender' and they also have a get-out clause that enables them not to pay his damages, they're only obliged to pay for the third party, and even that they can pursue you for.
