I'm needing a new battery for my MK3 1.0, had a look on ebay and a few other websites looking for the best price but thought i'd post up on here and see if anybody knew of any particularly good deals?

Just buy one from a shop mate there not too expensive, just had to change mine as the winter killed it!

Oh and don't be afraid to haggle with the person selling it could probs get a brand new one for 30 quid!

ECP are very good. Bosch are very good prices as are Exide, which I recommend.

Dont get one from halfords... I'm a mug and paid £68 for a bog standard one. 3 Years warranty though!

I did once in an emergency.. got a refund the next day after i got one from ECP!

ECP 4 Year Calcium 063 battery (assuming its an 063) is about 40 quid with VAT. We used to sell hundreds of em when I worked there, brilliant and cheap.

Halfords equivalent (was their own brand (shit)) was 80 quid!!

Halfords are properly cheap for batteries on trade

Same was desperate though.

I paid about that for a Halfords one,but only because i didn't know what car i needed it from. I needed the most powerful one i could fit in the battery tray - and thanks to Halfords having all their batteries out on display i was able to find an ideal one.

Didn't get as ripped-off as you two though,because i found a 440A calcium job with 4yr guarantee for the money,which i just managed to shoe-horn into place (with minor modification to the o/s windscreen wiper arm). It turned out to be for a Toyota Aygo 1.5TD of all things.

Euros probably sell it cheaper,but id never have found it in the first place without Halfords so i payed them.

Yeah, 063 or 083 for a mk2/3.

i got an Excide premium for £50 with 4 years warranty for ma 1.0 recently from ECP

I got a Bosch one from ECP for £36 a few months back. Halfords wanted £80 odd, I actually went without my car for a few days and got the tube to work, fucked if I was paying that much for a Halfords battery

Got to say a big thank you for all the advice guys, managed to save me a good 45 quid so I appreciate it a hell of a lot! Its done the trick too which is a bonus The joys of running a little old car during the winter eh!
