recently sold my polo and bought this today. i love it.

1981, 1.3, has a 5 speed polo gearbox in. lowered 40mm.

would like it to be lower, but I'm going to sort the bodywork out first, only a few bubbles of rust at the moment.

what do you guys think.

i dont have many plans for it really. jut little things, going to tart the bodywork up, as there's a few bubbles of rust kicking about, but nothing major atall.

only things i want to do really are lower it just a bit more, maybe 60 or 80mm. will probally go 60 first. then lower again later on haha. and get a cd player in there. but i will just go buy some tape's from a car boot sale for the time being.

and get a smaller steering wheel. might get a gti one on there, but dont like the fact that i will have a gti steering wheel on a 1.3 jetta. so I'm looking into what steering wheels there are that fit with the look of the car. dont want a 'racing' steering wheel or anything like that.

any idea's welcome

suprising how much better it looks with just lowered suspension and a set of nice wheels :)

btw, be carfeul with those front tyres in the ice/snow/damp, infact anything that contains water, i have them on the rear and damn it likes getting sideways with them, i spent half the time crabbing along snowy roads because they wanted to follow the camber of the road

but in the dry they're great

going to give it a nice clean tomorrow i think. and look up some tyre makes/sizes that will look nice on them wheels.

I'm in no rush for tyres because I'm going to put some 'scala' (scirocco) wheels on it for the time being whilst i save a little bit more for some tyres.

the 14's scala's with chunky tyres will fill that arch gap i think, possibly making look a bit better.

mk1 scirocco wolfsberg steering wheel, they have a sporty yet classy look to them imo

i think they were found in early golfs too

the conti sport contacts i have on the front are amazing, i can highly recommend them and even though they are the same size as the yokos, they look alot chunkier so could be good for your arch gap

only a tiny update, and a question for you all..

cleaned it last week, got cold, so didnt finish it, blackened the bumpers earlier. but it didnt come up the best.

i was just wondering what everyone uses to blacken them up nicely. i used autoglym bumper blacker.

got new tyres fitted, went for the continental's 175/50/r13... I'm happy with them, chunkier than the yoko's but i think they look better imo.

i played around with a couple of pictures aswell, never new how to do it until someone told me. so that has been fun.
