Yeah not sure what VW were thinking when they named the colour!

Sorted out a few niggling things last night that had been bothering me! Firstly, one of my door speakers hadn't worked for years....peeled back the rubber boot going in to the door and saw both wires had snapped lol. So repaired that and music sounds much better!

Added a shark fin aerial...mainly for looks as I don't actually listen to the radio, but my old aerial base was cracked.

After years of it not working, finally got around to fixing my central locking and wish I'd tried sooner, as it took all of 10 minutes. A read up on here revealed that the fuel flap solenoid is prone to leaking air. So it was the first thing I checked....and there was a big hole in the rubber boot. Cut it off, stuck a screw in the pipe, and have working central locking again!

Replaced my worn gear stick gaitor too. Car is uber dirty at the moment, but I have a few bodywork issues to sort out before I clean anything....had a little curb meets door sill incident. :s

Not much to report atm....bought a Right Click remote central locking kit. Repainting the OS wheelarch and a bit of the rear quarter as the paint I used before was a crap match....way too dark. Have some Holts stuff that takes a good 5 or 6 coats to build up the colour strength but its a perfect match. Also doing a panel by panel detail. Meguiars Ultimate Compound, then Autoglym SRP, followed by 2 coats of nice strawberry smelling AutoBrite wax :D. Paint is coming up pretty good, will post a pic when I'm done but taking my time!

Just spent the last few hours painting my arch and rear quarter, had to work pretty fast before the rain came! Happy with the colour match, just need to blend it in tomorrow.

Going to start refurbing my wheels over.the coming weeks...not sure on colour though. Going to do the outer rim in metallic silver, then possibly gold for the centre. Thoughts or suggestions anyone?

I've decided on gold centres and gun metal grey dish 8-). No changing my mind now I've ordered the paint lol!

Be interesting to see the outcome. Shall keep my eye on this one :-)

Started refurbing my RAs today. Gave them a good clean, then sanded out any big scratches with 280 grit before going over the whole wheel with 800. Used some 2 part epoxy steel to fill any chips. All masked ready for primer.

I'm using Etech wheel paint as I'd heard its decent.

IMAG0137-1.jpg

After 2 coats of primer.

IMAG0138-1.jpg

Going to leave it an hour then sand out any runs before spraying the dish.g

Outer rim now painted gun metal grey. Leaving it to harden for 24hrs then will paint the centre. Doing one wheel at a time and running my space saver in the meantime.

Not much has been going on recently, mainly due to the weather. As its started to perk up a little I've made a start on the bodywork issues. Pulled out the dent in my sill as much as I could with a slide hammer, filled the holes with epoxy steel, and ground of the excess. Gave it a quick coat of primer so the filler will have something to stick to. Just going to do a quick skim so its smooth. It will probably still bow ever so slightly where it was dented, but hopefully won't be too noticeable, I dont want to stick too much filler in there. Going to repaint the whole sill so figure I may as well smooth out the jack markers too. Will do the filler work tomorrow hopefully!

It's real simple dude....swap a few wires over, shave off some plastic etc. There's a guide on UK Polos I think.

On the lookout for another 6n in better condition to be honest, but still continuing with this one as something to do!

The paintwork is really starting to bother me now. I have an area on the offside rear quarter, beneath the rear window that I had to repaint and to be honest it still looks crap. I can't afford to get it painted properly, and there'd be no point anyway as the paint on the rest of the car is quite poor, lots of scratches and an obscene number of stone chips. So I was thinking of stickerbombing the area to cover it up. I know it's not to everyones tastes but I have a soft spot for it when done well.

What I'm debating over is how much I do....whether I just cover the afflicted area, or the whole panel. I'll do a drawing in paint to show much much needs covering!

If I do this I will probably do the nearside front wing as well.

In yellow is the area of shitty paintwork that neeeds covering somehow. In pink is the total area I'm thinking of doing. Thoughts anyone?

Rather than stickerbomb, why not paint the whole car Nato Green, Matt or Satin Black? At least with Nato Green you wouldn't have to change colour on the log book. Just get a DA, wait for good weather and paint the whole car. Would be different, modded and not stickerbombed. It took me and a mate about 6 or 7hrs to paint my old Fiesta including masking up, removing lights and a lunch break!

Decided I'm going to paint the whole car with Montana 94 grafitti paint after seeing some good results and getting some advice from a guy on SouthwestDubs. Decided on dark green with a grey roof. Gonna do it properly and do all the door shuts etc.
