Additional Information:

Right. I have my 1.6 AEE engined Golf, which is a solid daily. Low miles (with loads of history to back up), full MOT, and tax til the end of the year. It has full VW main stealer service history up to a couple of years ago, and receipts for work since including a cam belt last year. Really tidy drivers side, slightly denty near side, but nowt seriously wrong with it, and mechanically very good. Has a chip in the windscreen (which scraped through the MOT) and a teeny tiny coolant leak (uses about 1 litre a month). Centre box is blowing a bit. (centre pipe readily available for <£30 online) Interior is a bit shabby cos it had a window put through before I owned it and got wet. Just water marks on the seats, nothing sinister. Rear windows don't work. Rat look aerial (just a metal rod from B&Q which has gone rusty).

It also has a super-cool numberplate, which must be worth something to someone if you're that way inclined. Or you happen to be called "Pinko". (altho I'm quite tempted to keep it and transfer)

I'm currently getting mid 30s round town, and mid 40s mixed. See here: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/tonedepear/golf (click "UK" in the top left corner to see UK MPG figures!)

It's a really good car, actually. (I've had it 5 months, which is roughly 4 months longer than it normally takes me to get bored of cars, and I'd keep it if it was a tiny bit more frugal). I've done 9000 miles in 5 months in it without any trouble, and it's just had some new pads on the front. 10 months ticket and a bit of tax to be getting on with.

It was also treated to 4 brand new 13" steel wheels from VW last year by the previous owner, cos the old ones were "looking tired". :o

What I'm after is something of a similar vintage, with oil burning or gas, cos I'm doing a ridiculous mileage now (Stoke season ticket + daughter and ex have moved to Durham). Looking for straight swaps, cos I'm skint (unless you can offer reasonable no-credit-check finance!). Mine's pretty economical, and very reliable, I just want something a bit more economical. Ideal world, I guess a similar age diesel volvo440/xantia/bx/zx/polo/passat, or a small engined petrol polo/lupo with 5 gears. Needs to be OK in a crash (daughter), seat 4, take a kiddie seat in the back safely and comfy enough on the motorway (seeing as I spend half my life on the A1/M1/A50).

Anyone got owt and fancy this? It's ripe for a bit of big wheels/spring choppery.

Any questions, please ask!
