Hi all,

About 8 months ago i got done for drink driving. Which in itself was the worst experience i've ever had, anyway i've paid a VERY hard price and done a dd driving course to shorten the ban and i'm able to apply for my licence back next month, and was wondering which insurance company would be the the best to use? i'm 22 and had my licence since 17 although no ncb.

I'm painfully aware that i'm not going to be able to insure anything remotely fast for a while, but hoping to get a 1.4 16v mk5 polo, as i had one for my first car and loved it.

Has anyone here been done for dd? i was one of the unlucky people to be caught the morning after and was only just over (46mcg) he said if i would had breakfast i would of been fine...

you were unlucky to be caught the morning after ??? id say that was more luck just think you could have had an accident and seriously injured someone or even killed them and you were driving over the limit that would have given you a pretty damn lengthy ban or even custodial that said and point made i take it that you got a 12m id be prepared for a pretty damn hefty qoute at least four/five times what you were paying before

thats part of the punishment i'm afraid and it will stick with you for years to come, bit shit tho getting caught the day after.

i've had one too but there's not really one company that specialises in pissheads...

i've used so many different companies it's silly, mostly modified specialists like flux or greenlight, I have to keep moving because they give you a good quote to get you hooked and then screw you on the renewal.

it's not fun but you'll get over it, if anything it was good for me because i dont drive over the limit at all any more.

I'm in the same position but I'm 19 with no NCB. I come off my ban in 8 days and I've had to sell my old car and buy a 1.0 polo 6N. As painful as driving a car with hair dryer for an engine will be, I'm also paying £2300 a year to insure it which is like being shot in both feet. If i didnt pay it all off in one then monthly cost would have been 3/4 of my wage.
