Just crashed my car :( 6n2 wing removal?

Featured Replies

I've crashed my silver polo 6n2 tonight. Pretty pissed off with myself.

Not paying 100% attention. Suddenly there was some backed up stationary traffic in front of me. The car skidded! The ABS light had come on when i set off and i think the ABS wasn't working. Managed to avoid hitting the car in front by going down the side but i hit the barrier :( knocked the tracking out, scratched the bumper, broke my indicator and dented the wing.

Anyway, onto the main thrust of my post. How easy is the wing to remove on a 6n2, is it welded. I've read a post about the 6n which isn't welded and just bolts off. I've found a wing in silver on ebay at a good price and will buy it if i can do it myself. I will probably leave the bumper and fix the indicator. Getting it tracked up on saturday, so hopefully should be able to get it sorted all in for less than £100.

I rang my insurance company when I got home and wish I hadn't, £300 excess, and now i've mentioned it it may affect next years premium despite not claiming and having protected no claims. Seriously what is the point in insurance, I have never claimed, and the fine for driving without it is pitance.

Anyways, any advice on the wing would be greatly appreciated.

Unlucky mate. The wing certainly won't be welded, but I'm not sure exactly where all the bolts are. Insurance are bastards! ..and they wonder why everyone sues them for whiplash etc when they get the oppurtunity!! :-)

Last week i crashed my 6n2 and i've had to replace the wing bonnet bumper drive shaft lower wish bone and bits so feel lucky mate.

The wing itself is easy to remove and you can pick them up cheap just be aware there are different ones, some have the sill attached where as some don't.

I'm sure you'll sort it soon :)

i drove straight into a wall because i was looking at my phone and didnt realise there was a turn. didnt leave a mark. until i realised my front left suspension was in about 20 pieces
