Just wondering if anyone done the paper work to re register a 1043 to a 1272 GT conversion ? ?

and what sort of money for insurance I'm only 18 atm so I'm thinking it will be quite pricey or will it just be the same as insuring a standard GT

Thanks Rob

It'l be more than insuring a standard GT i would have thought as it'l be a modified car.

You'l need to fill in section 7 on your v5 with the relivent info, engine number and size... think thats all!

8-)

Make sure you've got the details of the donor car as there's been some bullshit from the EU and the DVLA about engine swaps lately.

Depends on the insurance company.

If you are doing an engine swap, many mainstream companies will not touch you.

You are best off speaking to a specialist broker like Adrian Flux or Brentacre before doing any work on your car.

I've been with Brentacre for at least 7 years with my GT conversion. They charge me for a modified GT (group 8).

Endsleigh are also quite helpful, but were not as cheap.

Avoid highway/HIC. Great prices, but rubbish insurance when it comes to claims.

i wouldn't bother declaring it to the dvla unless you have all the relevant paper work in order, it doesn't effect the tax banding of the car and unless you a have all the details of the engine and car it came from the dvla will withhold your log book and your car will become nothing more than a garden ornament. they really have made it a right ball ache for people that are trying to do thing's properly, any engines taken from scraped car's years go and kept for a rainy day are going to be all but impossible to register in another car now :-(

make sure your insurance is aware of which engine is in the car tho

It'll most likely cost you more than having an orginal GT in the first place. Thats because the insurance company will see it as modifying the car. And will be lead to believe your a "boy racer". But whatever you TELL THEM ABOUT ANYTHING YOU TO DO YOUR CAR!

From stickers to enginge swaps.

To insure mine I had to send Brentacre quite a detailed list of mods.

However as they are experienced in this kinda thing it wasn't too much of a chore.

I don't think I'm paying much more insurance than I would on a similarly modded GT.

All I can remember is they are happy with whatever I do to the car as long as I declare it and the bhp doesnt go above 100.

As I said before the OP should ring round a few insurance companies and see if they are happy for him to insure a converted car, and how much extra it will cost.

Brentacre, Greenlight, Adrian flux should be worth a call.

Adrien Flux and HIC are pretty much the same company? :?

I thought Flux and HIC were two separate companies? If they are the same, then another good reason to stay with Brentacre.

i'm with HIC and have had paperwork from flux before, also my mate got a quote from flux the other week, he then phoned HIC and they already had all his detail's of the earlier quote he had from flux and said it would be the same.

Flux are brokers, what are HIC?

Are they an actual company or brokers?

Flux probably got the cheapest quote from hic
