no the car is already sorn i need to un sorn it

so no need to ring up or anything just go with the log book and buy tax

Yeah, just tax it, then the SORN's cancelled automatically.

On the same point what if the car is SORN and you have done an engine conversion how do you go about re taxing it as it needs a valid MOT plus declaration of Conversion etc and insurance to get tax??

Unless you have put an engine in that will take it into the higher tax bracket, get an MOT done, tax it then inform DVLA of the new engine s/no, but if you have put a 1.6 in place of the 1.3 or 1.4 etc then you will have to get the MOT and possibly an engineers report, then inform DVLA then tax it with the new V5 and pay the higher tax disc rate

Plus also the DVLA are now reported to be asking for the details of the car the donor engine came from. This may include the reg number/chassis number of the car. If you can't supply this then they may say the car can not be driven on the road..

Well i aint got any info from the donor car as i bought the engine from a breakers so theyll have to get the reg number etc off the serial number. although i have been told that it depends as some people have just told the DVLA what it is and what its been put in and theyve accepted it so who knows until its done
