for a mk2 golf?? the 085 is not a gear box code it is a tipe of gear box use on the mk1-4polo's and some golf's but there is diffrent codes..

well its for a 1.3 mk2 golf, and i just got told the code for it is an 085 box as it will be a direct fit for the mk2

An 8P will fit, got one off a mk2 1.3 golf for my lads 1.3 polo

Been told I may have to swap one of the dif output flanges to fit it on the polo

if you wont the proper box for the car you nead to tell us the gear box code coss ther is 100's of diffrent codes for the 085 box

coss this is a polo forum so finding golf bits will be hard. so do you wont a golf box or a polo box?

coss what i am trying to get at is a 085 box off a mk4polo will not fit on to a mk3polo coss thay are diffrent

Spooky! Picked my gearbox up from a golf breaker and was told it came off a mk2 1.3 golf. Checked the code on the gearbox which i'm positive has 8P stamped onto it. The breaker told me to check the output flanges against the old gerabox as one would be different. Will have to double check when I get back to my garage.

To check the code, look on the top edge of the bell housing between the engine and the inspection hole. It's awkward as it's under the dizzy, so you may need to use something like a scourer and a torch to be able to see it properly
