The black and grey looks very smart, whereas the blue camo looks almost childish.

Black it is, i can get the material for about £10-15 cheeper compared to the blue camo as well

Right i done the headlining today. It looks quite good but in places there is some marks where the glue has come through and i mucked up the bit around the light so i will probably do it again some time if i can be bothered

yeah i will do the pillars when i got home next as i only have very basic tools at uni and i need to take the seat belts off.

as for the grill i am having a few problems, when i tried to put it on i cracked all the welds so i am going to attempt to do it again when i am home next

Ahh don't let the seatbelts put you off, the front ones should be a piece of cake but the rear's were a complete bitch in mine! Put the 6n2 gti seatbelts in mine. In the end had to get a chair and stand on the spanner to release the bolts for the rear seatbelts! Gives the interior a completely different look once you've done it though!

Yeah i will do them they didn't look too hard to remove it is just the fact that all i have at uni is a screwdriver and a hammer and i didn't fancy using them to try and get them off haha

Dropped the car off at the garage yesterday to have the exhaust fitted, service and tracking done

however i had a phone call a couple of hours later saying the manifold will melt the alternator if i dont get some heat wrap (which i took off any threw away a couple of weeks ago :sad: ) and they had to grind some of it back as it was fouling the rocker cover. After all that it is now fitted, but i then got another phone about 3 this afternoon saying that the rest of the system doesnt fit properly. luckily they said that they can cut it up a bit to get it to fit properly so hopefully it will be on by tomorrow when i pick it up.

Also they said while they were doing the service they checked the rest of the car over and said that i will most likely need new pads and disc all round soon and one of my calipers need replacing soon as it is sticking.

All in all not very good news and before anyone says they are trying to rip me off they arent as it is my dads mate doing the work haha

so who can recommend where to get new brakes and stuff cheap?

picked the car up from the garage tonight. The exhaust is finally fitted, i will get some pictures up tomorrow. I dunno what the cost is going to be though as it was in for 2 days i will find out in a couple of weeks.

It sounds nice it isnt too loud apart from on full throttle i will get a video of it too tomorrow :biggrin:

Awesomme, what exhaust have you gone for? and how come you took the heat wrapping off?

Also surely all you'd have to do is strip the caliper down and rebuild it?

My right caliper was sticking due to one of the sliders being seized...just stripped it down, wirebrushed everything and regreased the sliders :) Saves replacing the caliper!

it is a DTM style exhaust i got but the tips stick out quite a bit at the moment so i may get them cut back a bit. apparently the wrap isnt good to have on it as it may cause problems later on, as the heat will build up near the engine, rather than down the exhaust as the wrap is so efficient at keeping heat in.

I will have to find out if that is possible as i cant seem to find a cheap caliper anywhere haha, but i think that they said that it will need replacing

right here are some pics of the exhaust i have only just noticed that it is a bit wonky so i will have to sort that out soon. the car is a bit higher than normal at the moment just so that it could get into the MOT place so i will lower it again soon.

The car flew through its MOT without any advisories as well which was surprising as there were a few things i thought would be a problem

ignore all the smoke it was very cold today

brought my car an early christmas present today, hopefully it will make the rear wheels turn more freely than they are at the moment. where the calipers arent working properly i could barely turn either of the rear wheels when i jacked it up with the handbrake off.

Got new rear brake pads and discs and some new calipers for the back are on there way

right, I have found out today that my dads work has just got a new air compressor and spray gun so once the weather starts to get a bit better i am going to start some smoothing on the car along with some other mods as i have worked out cannot afford to get a new car in the summer

So here are my plans for my car. I will hopefully work my way through the list in the next 6 months or so depending on money haha

-Remap

-raise, shorten tips and straighten exhaust back box

-Fog lights

-6n2 steering wheel, gearstick and gti front splitter

-tidy engine bay up a bit

-retrim pillars. Maybe door cards and parcel shelf in leather

-Smooth number plate, top vents on front bumper.

-smooth tow ring, fit cut out round exhaust better, number plate lights on rear.

-smooth Vw badge and handle on boot. 

-refurb wheels in different colour. Maybe black rims red centers

-Tyres front-165/50/15

          Rear-175/55/15

started to re trim the pillars today. The back pillars are right bastard to get out, ended up taking the whole back apart basically haha spent about 3 hours doing it. Going to do the other pillars today and fit my 6n2 gear knob that arrived today. Will get some pictures up after i have finished

right pictures, they are a off my phone so they are a bit rubbish. i will take some better pictures with my camera tomorrow

first up i fitted the 6n2 gearstick. I actually prefer it, it feels much nicer in my hand haha

retimed the back and middle pillars, couldnt do the fronts as i couldnt work out how to get them out and it started to get dark so i will do them tomorrow

Then i took my car to get washed at the local car wash as i couldnt be bothered to do it and it was in quite a state

And finally my new rear calipers came so i am going to give them a good clean and paint and then get them fitted at the end of the month along with the new disc and pads
