Hi guys,

Looking a standard system for my 1998 1.4 16v 6n Snowlo. Its blowing out in the centre section and at the backbox.

Was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to get a new one at the best price? Sure a few of you been in the same situation!

Depends whether you're self-fitting or having it done for you. If you're having it done, grab the Yellow Pages and ring every tyre and exhaust place in there and find the best price.

If you're self fitting, get on www.buypartsby.co.uk, get the price off there for the bits deliverred, then ring the local parts places and see if they can beat it.

I've had several fitted over the years at Kwik-fit! They are Bosal exhausts with a three year warranty. They look identical to OEM interms of fit and our local place has got experienced fitters and not a bunch of cowboys. They've lasted 50K each and then needed replacing.

They do NOT have the supreme quality of OEM exhaust with the high grade thick pipes, but are acceptable, fit well, and are quiet, at a very reasonable fitted price.

A strange recommendation, but one based on experience.

I've heard kwik fit are said to be pretty bad at charging for extra (unnecessary) work. I.e they'll say the cat needs doing too, etc.

Guess it just depends on who does the job though.

Agreed. I think certain ones are very bad. A bit like gas engineers on callout in a frozen December - it's the motherboard mate and it's gonna cost
