hi all, I'm gonna replace the front tyres on my valver because they are shocking they Event wl something or other but either way they are crap and have to go the car currently has kumho ecstas on the rear but i was thinking continentals for the front

the tyre size is 195/45R15 and its a 6n2 valver of course

Yeah Events are a fairly dodgy budget tyre. Personally I'd go for a pair of Toyo T1-Rs, they're only £40 a tyre.

Nankang Ditchfinders all round. People said they were terrible so i bought them. Because i dont like much grip.

But i am disappoint. No crazy antics happened,it still handles well.

i like grip, grip makes me happy i don't think nankangs are for me

and if you are after less grip try putting mcdonalds trays under the rear wheels and pull the handbrake up and drive off.

I'm running a completely stock car, stocl height means inferior handling to that of a lowered, wider tracked car, but my Kumhos do me well in all conditions. Grip is always there when you need it, and very reasonable prices.

Falken Ziex ZE912's and previously Hankook Ventus's, both were excellent but i'd reccomend the falkens on the basis of value for money

econemy 5.5" cheap'os all round where there used to be 7" wide toyo's, as i had to sell my wheels . . . the grip is not the same any more

i had a set of toyo's on the GTi, they were great in the dry, little iffy in the wet..didnt last very long though there pretty soft!

yee they were diffinatly very good in the dry, never tried in the wet really only had them on the car for two weeks :(

i will never use any thing but rainsports or rain experts (depends on wheel size) until they stop making them.

i'm not really impressed with uniroyal rain sports as i find they grip as well (slightly better in the wet) as my kumho's but dont last as long and cost more but i do rate them a lot higher than michelins

see i was looking at michelin pilot (insert rest of the name here) but I'm not sure if i can trust the french with my safety but anything is better than those horrible event peices of crap

These Nankangs grip better than the Falkens they replaced.

And i'll never use Kumho's again after the scitzophrenic ones i last had,which gripped only when they felt like it,regardless of what i wanted them to do.

I'm not really into Rainsports... They are good in the wet, obviously, but no better than a warm Toyo/Yoko/Goodyear F1. Unfortunately they don't last in the dry as well as the aforementioned tyres. If you want a tyre that grips in the wet from cold, and don't intend on driving quickly, they'll be ideal.

almost crashed today at my local tesco because of these rubbish tyres theres a tight hairpin on the way out i was doing about 10 mph turned the wheel tight and carried on going i wasn't on the throttle so i couldn't turn in tighter so i just let the ABS do its thang, stopped then carried on

I'm running pirelli P2600 or something, second set of them. great tyre in all conditions. good grip and hard wearing. cheap on 13s too

similar to Avon cr322 loved them on my mk2 but now i have an extra 45hp and wheels two inches bigger

got goodyear f1's on the front on mine, second hand on my new wheels, i think they are the best tyres i've had yet in the wet,, not sure what they are like in the dry though... hasn't been any since i've had them...

Those Eagle F1s are utterly blinding in the wet but have really soft shoulders/sidewalls so wear very fast if used hard in the dry. Providing it's just literally a wet road, not greasy or anything else, there is very little difference in wet and dry grip on the Goodyears, they are that good. This applies to the GSD3s which I assume is what you have.
