I actually don't know what the grille is off, I looks like it's been modified to fit though.

Get a pic of your standard one up and i might swap mate, wanting to change how the front of it looks etc.

M

grill is of a mk2 golf, it was trimmed down to fit i think. owner before me did it.

Nice one, Cheers liam.

Hows the mk2 coming along?

You haven't put a thread up yet.

M

been working on the skip dent today haha. there is bit of rot i need to sort out. getting some fibre glass arches and bought some 13x7 mini lite wheels last night. But i need an engine conversion, just too slow for me haha. you been playing with the rocco much, hows the polo going?

Haha, well you've got the GT cam and electronic fuelling to use.

I would get it on some motorbike carburettors if I was you, they're the way forward.

Putting some 8j/7j steelies on it and iv got a different steering wheel for it, Other than that not much, just keep it as it is for now.

Polo is getting some decent work done to it tomorrow :ninja:

Stop thinking about conversions for this and finish the mk3, forget about the fact this has 75bhp and you wanting more, get the polo running with the power and enjoy it!!

Good advice dan lol.

That's exactly what I'm doing, I'm not interested in the scirocco the same way about polo's.

Its a nice car but there's just something about mk1-3 polo's that you just can't beat.

An AAU hit the deck today anyway :ninja:

Ready for the new engine.

You seen my mk3 thread? With the rebuild?

M

yes indeed I have, Its in my watch list :)

Keep your eyes on my mk1 thread in two weeks time ;)

Some pic's from this weekend.

Got this new steering wheel for the mk3 but wanted to use it on the scirocco for a while,

I quite like it, Without the middle push button. What do you guys think? Its awesome for driving.

Took the push button off because it says "type R".

Also found out that the coil-over's have been neglected, The thread corroded quite bad so the adjuster rings won't budge! :x

When the polo's back on the road i'll be taking them off and sorting them, If i don't sell it on that is.

Some pics:

and also a better pic of the wheels, these will be getting fully polished or painted when i swap them for the banded steel wheels.

Did some work on the old work horse this weekend, After my first few drives of the car i noticed that at idle the car would be vibrating shit loads, making it pretty noisy at time. Had a look when i got to work and noticed that if you pushed on the engine, it would move laterally about 20-25mm which isn't good! , turned out it was a knackered nearside and gearbox mount, a quick journey to GSF was needed.

The culprit:

You could literally pull the centre boss out lol, Probably most likely the original mounts.

Then again, for the second time that day (problem with rounded bolts on my mk3) a problem occurred.

As you can see above the mount is a push fit into a housing, where two metal surfaces are in very close contact, Any water that gets in-between will soon corrode them together, which it had done, 30 minutes of smashing the fuck out of it with a lump hammer did nothing...

So plan B, tried cutting it across its circumference with the angle grinder to try and free it and get some heat in there:

Did nothing..

Plan C, tried literally welding pool's onto the circumference to get some serious heat between the surfaces to try and free them:

290120111443.jpg

Did nothing but melt the rubber bushing..

Plan D, The only thing left in my eyes that wouldn't take up any more time was to literally cut the fucking thing out, A straight cut across the housing:

290120111445.jpg

Obviously now the mount pinged out, and the housing sprayed open...

290120111446.jpg

Put the new mount in the housing and clamped it back up, welded across the cut , trying not to touch the mount..

Jobs a gooden!
