I'm sorry to say there are no updates at the moment :(

Working full time and trying to stay fit and train every evening so struggling to find the time and energy to work on the triumph. Doesn't help that the polo is giving up on life at the moment so time has to be spent on that aswel.

When the clocks change and the evenings are longer/lighter the updates will rain hopefully :)

Glad you like though, I defo plan to bring it along to some shows along with the polo (or whatever VW I have by the time this thing's finished!)

Long time no see!

Something miraculous has happened. I actually did some work on this a few evenings ago! Amazing I know.

So my plans of working on this in the evenings fell through, my job is going great but it's taking it out of me! Bare dollar though so can't really complain. Anyway here we are 6 months along and the project is more or less where it was when I left it.

I'm afraid to say this isn't a huge update, merely a reassurance that I haven't given up, as having scanned through the thread I realise that quite a few of you are interested in this coming together, which means a lot and I don't want to disappoint you!

What have I done then? Well, I've resumed the engine rebuild by getting the head nuts on and torqued down and refitted the rocker gear. Unfortunately, I'm a complete plonker and always forget to unwind the torque wrench so it seems as though it's nackered. Doh! So I need to get a new one before I can torque down the rocker gear and get the cover fitted along with the sump.

The Timing Chain cover has had no attention so it's still half polished and having polished the rims on my old bbs for the polo (not very well) and the center caps for my teledials (a bit better but still not very well) I think it'll take a lot of work! But I shall persevere.

No photos of the progress but you all know what an engine looks like so no point at the moment!

Hopefully you'll hear from me again in the not too distant future!

quality build mate

So as I said in one of the cleaned posts, I have a rather big update for you, I'm afraid it's not a load of photos of the car off at multiple shows.. I'm still no where near there unfortunately!

However, 2 posts up, that photo I photoshopped....... Yeah, that's the new plan.

I started work again on the car a couple of weeks ago, having spoken to a work mate about how I might aswell just bang the car back together not worrying about the body work, just to get it on the road. I wasn't really being serious, but as I thought about it, it's become more and more realistic to me.

So I've decided to have a go. It shouldn't take much, I just need to make the body work solid enough for an MOT leave the rest, slap it all together, slam it and drive it. Who knows, once it's on the road I might decide to do it properly and attack it like a rolling resto, at least it'll be on the road and I can enjoy it.

The engine is back together and ready to be bolted to the gearbox, just waiting for a few parts, should have them by the weekend and then there'll be new photos to add to this 5 year long build.

It's good to be back on it.

Getting fed up of waiting for parts so I'm making the most of this bank holiday weekend and commenced with the body work. Hopefully the bits I'm waiting for will come this week and so I can get the engine and gearbox sat on the chassis!

That's all for now, tomorrow I'll be making new body mounts to replace the ones I cut off and may even do some wax oiling.

I'm actually getting quite excited about the whole thing now, I can see an end to the body work, well, the required body work, there'll always be more I can do!

The only thing I am worried about at the moment is the lowering. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it to the extent I'm planning.... But I'm sure I'll work it out I've got plenty of time!

Thanks, I plan to take this along to a VW show every now and then so you'll probably see it at some point! :)

Managed to make up some mounts today, will take them into work tomorrow to drill the holes and then weld them on at some point during the week.

It also rained and the roof leaked on the body...
