Rich's 1.4 GT Progress

Featured Replies

Hi, thought i would stick up a thread on my gt that i bought a couple of months back. bought it pretty much completely standard for 450 which was a pretty good price considering it had 12 months mot and had just had a whole load of work done on it to get it on the road. I'm only back from uni for 4 weeks so have been trying to get as much done on it as possible in that time as i cant take it back up with me! so impressed with how it drives though, feels alot nippier than my old valver.

Spec

mk3 gt on 67,000

panel filter

modified airbox

dewedged throttle body

8k rev limit chip

lowered 70/60

arches smoothed

currently rocking steelies

when I'm next back

stainless exhaust/manifold

nice set of alloys, dono what yet

make up some doorpods and fit my sub etc

but that all depends on how much i have left of my student loan!

this is how it looked when i picked it up:

eventually did the front which was a bit of a nightmare but josh and matt off here pretty much saved me ahah and we got it done

Next plans are 20mm axle spacers on the rear and 10 or 15mm lowering top mounts on the front :)

Let me know what you think

looking sweet mate get a red strip in the rear bumper to match the front (tape from Halfords ) ;)

Think the wheel look nice before painting?

  • Author

cheers mate. I've got the rear tape on already but took photos before I did that!

Yeah i agree, really like the wheels as they are to be honest.

Looks superb 8-) , i'd definetely leave the wheels silver, should look better with the rears spaced out too.

Forgot about this..

Fitted my 15mm axle spacers and mk2 golf splitter. Unsure about the splitter thought atm. I like it from the front but from the sides doesnt quite look right..

Had to raise the back up 10mm ish as well as it was rubbing with 4 passengers

I'd raise the back a little further mate - got a little reverse rake going on but otherwise spot on. Love it!

  • Author

cheers mate, may have already sorted a deal with someone for 13"bbs though sorry haha.

Only plans are sort out the audio, bodywork and then lower the front a bit more maybe 80mm springs

Loving your new car btw!

Cheers Alex :)

That's the plan! but yeah time and money's the issue atm ha

  • 3 weeks later...

rich u alive?

  • Author

yeah haha, doing uni exams at the moment so everythings come to a bit of a halt with the car :(

Front splitter has come off though, didnt like how it didnt really line up properly. And ill be lowering it more when i come back from notts but have to take 4 other people down to cornwall in a couple of weeks so dont wanna do it yet! Considering respray over the summer as well as the bodywork is pretty shit, either try and tidy it up the same colour or a dark satin red .. still undecided atm :)

maybe like this colour:

fair play mayte u getting lowering top mounts or going to get the 80mm kit front?

yeah that colour is nice man do it lol

  • Author

Gonna get some 80mm front springs then see how it sits then maybe get lowering top mounts but they seem quite expensive for what they are..

Very tempted ha :)
