16v rear bumper

Featured Replies

Thought i would update this for people who are also in the same situtation

The bumper is now off , 4 hexscres just under the boot lid , Hex screw in the arch , one down the bottom center of the bumper.

Along the middle there are like plastic clips , you really do have to tug hard at the bumper to get this off.

Deal done

The plan was to rip my 16v apart and get it all done nice in a few months.

That sort of went out the window,

Anyway finally decided to jack the car up onto ramps as its too low Anyway.

I cant get the rear bumper off , i need it off so i can get the exhaust on , repair and respray the bumper.

now heres the issue.

All the screws in the arch and around it have been removed

The four hex just under the boot lip have been removed.

I cant see anything else holding it in.

It seems there’s something here (see picture) that’s holding it , I've put my hands up near exhaust and up inside.

The red circles , there’s something holding it there as when its hit down , pulled out , pulled up it stays there. The bumper will flex from that point.

I cant understand how its staying on there , I'm tugging it.

Bootlid , arch and main bottom bolt all off and where i circled it feels like its being held on at that point :s

well on the 8v rear bumper theres like 4 plastic clips that pull off similar to the ones that hold the interior carpet down.

yeah , I managed to get the rear one off my old 8v easy , there was accsess to the top one when the bottem valance was off. it seems like its held on the same but as its one piece you cant get to it.

I bet its simple but its just knowing the technique

if its factory fitted still then there are some plastic clips holding it on in the centre, the bumper just pushes on them, just get a pry bar in there and force it off....took two of us as they were well pushed on
