So I go to do the most basic mod on a polo 6n, removing the bump strips ... I use a hair dryer and all of them come off nicely, then the last freaking strip on the driver side door comes off with like 20 cm long strip of paint !!!!

Does anyone know how to fix this please??? .. its left my car looking soooo shit and its depressing .

wouldnt you have been safer to use boiling water and a bit of dental floss or something like that? would have probably left a bit of the glue on but not hard to get it all off heh...

Might aswell, rattle can job if done wrong can look even worse

just rattling it will look shit, as you need to properly blend in the repair. nothing looks worse than fresh rattled paint against aged bodywork

mind you stick something on the roofrack and call it rat

probably yes haha. iv left my bump strips on both of my polo's, sure they dont look amazing, but they look better than a ding in the door! or missing paint!

what about get yourself a book on spraying and have a go instead of just "rattle caning it". take you are time and make sure all you are prep work is done applying the paint is the easy bit, the difference between a pro and an amateur diy job is in the prep. take you are time and have patience with it. u've already made the boo boo. learn something from it. u cant make it any worse and if u decide its not working then put the strips back on or take it to a bodyshop

Yeah man, It's all about learning from your mistakes.

The same door thats f*cked is also a different shade of red to the rest of the car and it hasent got a window motor or regulator. Therefore I think the most effective action for me to take is to get a replacement door .

saw one on ebay for like £40 or go scrappy !!
