What does 'Valver' mean when people refer to their cars?

I've seen a few people mention it but I dont know what it is... :(

"Valver" is a common name for a 1.4 16v mk4 polo.

You might also hear it with regards to other 16v cars. Corsa boys often refer to "redtop" converted corsa's as "valvers" as they have a 2.0 16v engine.

I see, I thought it was something to with valve engine specs but wasnt sure.

on here, its usually referred to the "top" spec 6n polo.

I apply it to anything with 16 valves!

also a second to top spec 6n2 (its for the ones who cant get insured on a GTI)

I'm not lucky enough to have 16v lol I'm stuck with 8 on the polo,

This man speaks sense. I even made sure my utterly horrid Astra estate runabout had the right number of valves.

every time some one mentions to me that they've got a mk2 golf gti, the first question is "16v?" imagine the shame of every time some one asked you that question you had to explain that it was only an 8v

Thats why i always refer to mine as just a 2.0, vanilla ice style :(

My Laguna has 24 valves so it must be a valver+3/4 then?

Audi V8 at my old work had 32! fucking beast of a machine, 4.7 litre V8 iirc. Shame it doesnt run, dropped a valve :/
