i just did the same on confused.com and got quotes for £1200 fully comp for a mk2 and £600 for a audi A3 :?

there is only a few compnays that will accept them, now u have to ring up as their online system doesn;t reconise em.

Direct line and tesco are two of the best well known people.

Direct line I'm with and although i only had 1 years no claims it made a bigger reduction to my premium than what doing pass plus would of. Now remember u cant use your bike no claims if your using them with your bike currently!!!

I paid £1300 for a T reg 1 litre mark 4 polo. with 1 years no claims from my bike aged 17

Now pay £750 for a X reg 1 litre mark 5 polo with 1 years bike and 1 years car no claims.

The bike no claims are now counted as car no cliams at any company :)

Phil

You can't use any no claims split between cars. Example: If you have 3 years NCB, and by a runabout car, you cannot insure it as 3 years no claims, you have to start again at 0NCB with any new policy. If however, you sell that car and buy a new one, you can then use the no claims. You can only use the NCB from an expired policy.

I was a named driver under my mums policy when I passed, now I'm 19, 0 NCB, 3 points, 24k a year, on a 1999 1.9 GT TDI mk4 golf for £1200 fully comp.

Hiya,

I took out my first insurance a few months back.

I'm 23 (still on Provisional, test in few weeks!),

it's a P reg 1.6GL Polo,

and my insurance is £560 fully comp (it's a 10 month bonus accelerator tho so not quite a full yrs worth)

Didn't think that was too bad :)

I'm 19 I have a 1.6 Polo with a years no claim and I've been drivin for nearly 3 years my insurance is £638, on my Ibiza Cupra T its £989

unless you have a full bike licence your no claims dont count for anything, i haver the same arguement everytime i insure a bike

how many years ncb do you have sir?

3,

but you have only had a licence for 2 years

1year on a provisinal with my moped

that doesnt count I'm afraid sir

why fucking ask then :x

My dad works in insurance as a loss adjuster and it would be illegal if i am the owner of the car and am an "added driver".. ie what most people do:

Added driver on rents insurance.. They've been clamping down as of january and i would read your T&C's as as of January 2006 alot of companies changed their Terms & Conditions so that they dont have to pay out if your the owner of the car and on your rents insurance (added driver).. (or they investigate it and then argue it..)

Just a heads up..

Oh and you may like to know that if you goto Admirals website and get a quote, put yourself as the owner of the car, declare your age, no claims bonus and put everything completely truthful, then when it comes to "Adding Extra Drivers" (ie putting other drivers on your car) put one of your grandparents or someone between the ages of: 32-69, even if they have any convictions of offenses don't declare them as they wont be using your car.. so it doesnt matter..

now if you do this it will reduce your quote.. (i added my father (49) & my grandad (69) and it reduced my insurance quote by £188.

(a friend works for the company that designed the site..) :)

Also what ever you do DONT keep trying to get cheaper quotes from the same websites or companies by trying to fiddle with settings, ie changing your age, no claims e.t.c (even if it's just to see what the difference would be like)

Most sites are setup to give you a larger quote on this basis or not quote you as cheap as they would have done, as its a safety measure against people "lying", ie finding the cheapest quote by fiddling with different settings, like annual mileage, alarms and security devices, garaged or on the road, no claims e.t.c

:) Hope this helps, not all this may be necersarrily true for every company.. but its just some good advice that i've never really passed on..

*Edit

And it works ;)

I was quoted between £850-£1600 from a whole range of companies third party fire and theft.. but admiral quoted me £831, then added other drivers.. £641
