Been on the forums for a while now, haven't really posted much or bothered to post the car before due to lack of effort and not much to show, but decided it was about time I should 8-)

So I bought this 5 door 99 1.0L last January for £1200 off a friend from work with 75'000 on the clock....had been looking around for a Polo for ages but was unable to find one that was in decent condition and not already sold!

The car had a full service history and was in mint condition with virtually no rust, only some on the inside lip of the back door and a tiny bit on the passengers side trim. The previous owner's father is a mechanic and also drove the car so it had been looked after very well for the five years that they had it! Doesn't have power steering, central locking etc but I don't mind, love it! :)

Only done a few basic things to it so far as insurance was mad for first year

- Badgeless grill

- Clear indicators and side repeaters

- OEM mudflaps front and back

- CL spec seats

- new headunit along with new parcel shelf and 6x9's

Here it is when I got it anyway:

I then got hold of a badgeless grille and put that on

100_2262.jpg

Kept it like that for a while before getting bored and buying some clear indicators and repeaters..

100_2630.jpg

Brother then got some 16v seats for his polo, therefore I got his CL seats..much nicer than the polo L seats imo..had to pick a new back bench up from scrappy though, they had a valver there so i nabbed the back bench and headrests, the rest of the interior had already been taken..

Last thing I got were new OEM mudlfaps

IMAG0066.jpg

Thought it would make the car look a tiny bit lower heh. Painted the front vw logo with tyre marker which I think looks much better ;)

Image019.jpg

Gave her polish too as colour was fading slightly! >.>

That's all i've done to it so far as was paying £1800 tpft for my first year of driving... couldn't do too much, only subtle things,

This year I'm planning to

- Get Coilovers (next month)

- Pick up some VW Castellets that I have bought (also next month)

- Induction kit possibly? dunno whether there's anypoint one a 1.0l though

- Mk5 rears or 16v rears or fly eyes kit...dunno yet

- Probably some different alloys later on in the year

The car isn't going to be much different from any other car, however I like it like that 8-)

Oh also did a test the other day to see what they'd be like.....all i can say is...arch gap.

lolpolo.jpg

major luls. Getting different tyres with them so they won't look too sily for the time being!

Will update when new things happen :) Have lots of different pictures but didn't want to whack them all in to one post heh

Thoughts and opinions so far?

took me ages to find some mate.

Search ebay, I managed to get the back set first off ebay brand new in their original packet, and then about a month after I managed to get the front mudflaps off ebay also brand new :) the front sets have the vw logo but in black, so i just painted the front ones.

Basically every week or so keep checking ebay for them as the pop up from time to time :)

Good luck mate

Found a few more pics from recently, not much difference to mine, only the odd sticker maybe.

height difference :/

paulandmypolomb2.jpg

Didn't really have much snow down in Plymouth as everywhere else, so this was the extent of it

Also found some pictures of when I thought I had reversed into my brother's car...

100_2640.jpg

Couldn't believe how close it was.

100_2641-1.jpg

Lucky my car was still standard height eh? ha..

Car currently needs another clean and polish, just gotta wait for when it's not raining and I have enough time free to bother to hand polish it :p

Will update soon hopefully when I have got some coilovers!

The front ones don't have white vw logos...they have the black vw logo...I used a white tyre marker to paint mine white, have to touch it up every 3-4 months, part from that it's fine! :)

The back ones come with a white plastic vw logo

Only a small update for today,

I decided to give the polo a good Polish before alloys and lows.

So I went and picked up this.

IMAG0204.jpg

And set to work.

The Roof and Bonnet were the worst.

IMAG0210.jpg

You can see the difference around the aerial, and yes I do need a new rubber seal for it.

IMAG0205.jpg

IMAG0211.jpg

IMAG0212.jpg

Took me bleddy ages, my hands were killing me >.< Anyway, end result and also matte black grille which i put on:

Hopefully that should be alright for until just after the summer now..I still prefer the badgeless grille mind, might change it back over in a couple of days.

Will update when I have got the alloys and coilovers on :)

Come clean mine :D

Looks good mate cant wait to see it lowered!

will look sweet when lowered! and about the induction kit, get a HKS one my mate has one on his 6n 1.0l and sounds sick!

Yeah I know haha, they look shit when they fade, but awesome when they're done properly, still haven't got anything on jimmk4/goldmember though haha.

Yeah i'm lowering it, putting on my alloys and getting a new aerial seal, however I'm keeping it wipered and I dunno why but i actually like the polo badge on the back lol

Left side had to be bodged as the metal cap fell through, causing the top mount to push through.

Though the right side is seized, isn't as bad as it looks in the photo, the bumper also has a massive dent in it.

ALSO. you thought it would be funny to try it out eh david? lol.

Update for today:

Fitted my coilovers with the help of a friend! :)

Looks a lot better now, not gone down all the way, I might do soon but for now it's staying how it is.

Currently still reppin' the standard vw alloys with monster tyres untill I can afford to get new tyres for the castellets, should be a week or two so isn't too bad

:D

Only took a few pictures today, lush weather for it might i add.

IMAG0237.jpg

^ thought it was odd how the snail managed that lol.

IMAG0238.jpg

IMAG0240.jpg

pofrontlow.jpg

Front was lowered a bit more after that, also put the badgeless grille back on for time being :)

Next photo's I took after it was all done

dcpo-low.jpg

IMAG0241.jpg

Also another addition
