No insurance quotes under £7000?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, i passed my test in late november last year. i tried getting insurance quotes but not one was under £7000 :x

Ok I'm doing them on comparison websites but phoning them isn't going to lower by 4 - 5 grand.

I'm doing everything right and even had my parents do it.

The car I'm trying to insure is a 5 Door 1.4L VW Polo Mk4.

Please Help

Thanks, James

 you never know i suppose.

I will try hopefully tomorrow but all depends on when i finish work

How old are you? 17 or 18? (or older?)..

Put your parents as named drivers and do tpft...also try saying that your car will be on drive / garaged. Another thing to do would be to lower your annual miles.

Try Admiral/elephant (pretty much same company), they have given me a good quote this year :) £1087 on a 1.4...however I have years no claims and pass pluss

Good luck mate :)

Admiral is your best bet, best qoute i could get was 5k onlines and got it down to 3k with them on the phone, i have postcode problems :crybaby:

My experience is that mileage doesn't change much. I too have many problems. I would ring brokers and insurers and pit them against each other.

Got me down £300 or so this year. Also the parents as named drivers is fantastic, if you're able. Pass plus might help but some insurers nowadays don't take it.

Never lie though. Especially in this market they'd love any way to get out of paying out.

cheapest insurance is EGG CAR INSURANCE but it depends on where you live tbh mate

Thanks everyone and yeah my postcode is really bad.

Will see about ringing a few companies in a minute.

Might be worth finding some way to keep your car off road (even if you have to rent a lockup down the road)?

Have a look on this list http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=217409 too se who other people have used, and when you take out cover, let other people know the details on the same thread.

I do have a garage and I'm putting that everytime but when it asks where its kept during the day i put in workplace car park because i will be needing it for work.

Yeah and you can't lie about that incase thats where it potentially could get nicked from.
