I'd have a 9N GT over a valver, actually I'd probably have one over a 6N2 GTI.

OK so it's not a pretty car, but it's a Fabia vRS underneath. So piss easy to tune. Reckon you'd easily annoy proper Polo GTI owners with one. Plus you'd be paying less to tax and fuel it. Fuck yeah, I'd have one. Characterful little thing!

And as for lasting longer, I can guarantee that rock solid oil burner and galvanised body will put any pre 94 to shame. It's a taxi engine in a tough modern shell.

Just my 2p. I wouldn't sell the G40 to buy one, regardless of the above comment.

iirc, they did badge some very late V reg 16v's mk4s as a GTI.

I've seen two now, one was a very old lady, completly stock.

I'm guessing VW wacked the badge on just to shift them before the 6n2 played its part.

People on here seem to think that the MK4 is the car sent from God.

At the end of the day, the MK6 is superior in every way in comparison to a MK4 apart from maybe the odd looks.

I would rather modify a MK6 than a MK4 though, because most MK4's look identical. MK6's are really overlooked, and look killer with a MK7 front end (Chris Scragg's purple one for example).

Something I've found about this forum is that you don't get spoon fed everything, you can't just say "show me lights and grilles", as i said above, look through the galleries, find something you like and then try find it. If you can't, then come back and ask specifically what you want and where you can get it, I'm sure someone will be happy to help.

as said not many 9ns 9n3s or 6rs because they are affordable to us student types (student loan paid for my car) but i must say the 9n does look a little porky but the front of a 9n3 does seem to fix that

I drive a TT and polo's are shit, Its got 170bhp more than most mk4. How do you like them apples?

A friend of mine, grant, which a few of you have met at poloshow. His GT 9n is running about 180ish bhp at a guess with hybrid turbo, map etc. Aswell as that its a comfortable car to be in too. It'll keep up with the titty

As alex said, its same engine as a fabia vrs. You pay for the badge abit more mind. Then again they hold there value. Prices of VRS's have slumped abit recently so think i'd punt for one of them instead if i was in the market for a cheap diesel. Instead i fancy basically a golf in a nice frock.

Standard it wont pull away from a polo GTi. Trust me I've tried lol. But he probably got around 20 more MPG...the price of diesel is pretty silly right now though!

OK then, so are you saying that you could re-trim my interior to the same standard as the professional re-trimmers? Are you saying that you could re-do my paint job and all the welding and smoothing to the same quality that the bodyshop did?

As for paying a load of money, I do apologise for not stitching my own interior and for spraying my car in my garage, and quite frankly. I've got better things to do.

To the helpfull people who appreciate the fact not everybody knows as much as other's thank you :-D

i had a 9n hence the name...I'm all for the 'newer polos' have a look on all the build threads... they may not have all the things in one thread but if you take time and look on google too you will find something...

I've found if you're generally polite and come across a decent enough person then you'll find all the help you need. But you've also got to realise that we're just people who post on a polo forum, alot of us aren't professional mechanics, painters, detailers, trimmers... we're just people who like to mess about with polo's. So we're not gonna know everything, just like you don't know everything.

Now, "MarkAllen", What's pissed me off is your attitude and the amount that you've expected. Decent hard working people come on here in their spare time to give people advice and help... people who they've never met and most of the time probably will never meet. Alot of the time people just get a thanks, although sometimes we don't even get that! Also you might notice that some people have the tag "club member", these are the people who support the site by donating some of their hard earned cash. They might not be able to give anything back in the form of technical advice, so they do so financially. Then of course you get the club members who help financially and by helping out by sharing their knowledge.

I think it's about time you took a look at what this site and it's members are offering you for free, it's a great resource and I'll not stand for people bad mouthing it.

I haven't asked for the earth, i am also a hard working person, i work harder than most! I will also make myself a "club member" once i get my polo. I appreciate people are not here to just hand out advice. I am however asking for help because i dont know!! I will be modding my polo myself and I'm not mechanic,painter or detailer, I'm not bad mouthing it, it just seems to be the only way to get advice, people see a topic titled "9N help" and nobody says anything but when you start to stand out and make yourself heard you get a gob full. The Polo's were around the £8000 mark - the Skoda's around £5500.

This is what won:-

Paid £4750 for it - now around the 177-190bhp & 350lb/ft of torque

In the end it was all down to money - plus the Polo's seats were uncomfortable! (shame the VRS seats are white with 2 kids!)

Very nice, but mine's only a 1.4 16v Sport so its got the bucket type seats but not the big engine :-D

Well when i get it and I'm only paying £1000 for on 02 so all in all its a cheap nice but not nice enough looking little motor that wont be as bad on the motorway as my 1.1 106 :-)
