When to Sell a car

Featured Replies

I've been busy the last few months and I seem to have lost interest in cars now really so I'm out of the loop! I'm looking at selling mine because I'm sick of paying insurance for it

and I'm not going to really need it soon. Just looked on ebay and it seems that Golfs are going for bugger all at the moment! It was a different story a few months ago when

I was looking. So its after xmas and people are probably skint...so when is it going to pick up?! Anyone have any insight into selling patterns?!

Springs always a good time to sell anything, people have started to recover from christmas and generally haven't started to set money aside for xmas/ summer holidays and all that jazz from my experience.

Yeah, spring. Or, find someone you know who wants it - that's how we sold our Megane.

^^ Which is fine,as long as its not a rolling time bomb..

Yeah, definitely! Thankfully it was very sound and her uncle is a mechanic so he looked at it before she bought it.

i'd definitely say spring or summer, nobody can be arsed in winter.

It's probably the worst time ever to sell a car right now, Christmas has just gone, we're still in a resession and VAT has just gone up. Having said that, if the right person comes along then who knows, it's all about luck.

I was looking to sell my car, and for the prices polos are going for on here i'd rather let mine sit and rot untill i can afford to run it again.

My Corsa has gone up in value, and yes, I currently am using a Corsa :(

Think it could be time for a quick sale and make a tidy profit and get back to Petrol.

I will put my Golf up for sale again soon, i tried in Oct/Nov at didnt get great interest except people who thought i was desperate for money. Tax ran out in Nov but i had to tax it again so i could still use it if needed and not have it parked up all of winter.

I reckon next week i will do it, fresh pics and new advert and we are off!

I'm not really in a rush to sell, but it'll have to be within the next 3 months. I've put it up for sale on a couple of sites so will see what happens.

A swap for a fiesta or something cheap and small would be the best thing right now. (oh dear, what am i saying?!!)

Its a Polo I used to own, sold it to a mate who doesnt need it now so once the Golf has gone i will have space for the GT again. Makes sence as i still got wheels, suspension + more for the thing, i kept the stuff as i knew i would get another Mk2/3 Polo again.

The reason its 'only' £200 is because he knows i only paid £300 for it with 12mths MOT two years ago, so i wasn't gonna pay more now!
