Alright guys wondering if someone on here could help me out my cars oil pump has dyed so my car is off the road my girlfriends dad owns two garages & has lent me a little Renault Clio 1.2 to get around in till my polo is fixed wondering where I stand here insurance wise my insurance is fully comp with me as the main driver & parents on the policy as well . My girlfriends dad has said i will be covered on his company's insurance policy as it will be classed as a courtesy car . Me being fully comp on my polo should cover me on the clio as third party shouldent it ? But I was told you have to 25 or over now to drive another persons third party so I'm rather confused to where I stand ? : / my insurance is with elephant car insurance & with it being a Sunday I can't ring them till early in the morning to sort it out .

Look on your insurance certificate mate, i would imagine it would say it alloys you to drive other cars. I'm 20 and fully comp but I'm not allowed to drive any other car than my own but i think thats because I'm connected to the motortrade.

when my mate had a courtasy car it was already insured to who everyone tht uses it whilst there cars are bein fixed

Ask the garage, may be converred directly on their trade policy.

Thanks for the replys guys ! .I've checked my insurance certificate & can't see anywhere on it saying I'm allowed to drive other cars third party but I have asked my girlfriends mother who helps run the garage with this side of things & also shown her my insurace details she has told me I should be covered third party on the clio but I just want to make 100% sure to where I stand cover wise on this so I'm going to give elephant a quick ring in the morning to clear it all up. Usually if your over the age of 25 and have fully comp on your car, your insured 3rd party on other car as long as their owner has insurance.

Ye that's where the dark area of this situation is as I'm only 19 years old I don't know if I can or can not drive other cars . A lot of insurance company's have changed the policys on there fully comp insurance think it may be down to people getting insured on smaller engined cars & then driving bigger cars with 3rd party cover
