Model: 1990 Polo GT Hatchback/Breadvan

Engine: Golf MK2 AFM, cone filter, stainless steel 4 branch with decat, straight through stainless exhaust to PhilJ backbox, Poloace chip (rev limiter not known as of yet), MK2 Polo/Golf aluminium rocker cover

Suspension: I need to find this out, it's at least 60/40 in my estimation; budget kit too. 'Ged' Lower brace, polished alloy upper strut brace.

Brakes: VWII calipers, vented discs

Wheels and Tyres: Currently sat on Polo GT Coupe steels and wheel trims; 165/65/13 tyres

Exterior Styling: Tinted headlights, removed rear wiper, genuine factory fitted roofbars

Interior Styling: Standard apart from Polo 6n2 gearknob and gaitor

ICE and Security: None as of yet. Pioneer head unit along with Vibe active subwoofer are included in the plans

Comments: I obtained this car yesterday, from a user on here 'thorpy89'. It's been owned by a couple of members on the forum namely 'g40jon' who has given it a decent level of TLC. Future plans include a whole host of OEM additions along with Weitec 60/40 springs, Weitec rear dampers (still need to get some decent front dampers) G-laderseite ARB blocks and Powerflex TCA bushes. Plans also include revising the exhaust system as it's a tad loud for my liking. I also have a Schrick 268/268 cam also.

The pepperpot wheels will be up for sale shortly.

Looks lower than 60/40 i would say, probably 80mm on the front.

how close were the 13s to those calipers???

Back at my Parents' for the weekend. Went and dug out some parts.

Was a busy chap yesterday afternoon; foglamps, headlamp washers, clear indicators/sidelights, hella grille all fitted. I've yet to fit my headlamp protectors.

And fitted new steering wheel, thanks to 'popdragin'

Just need to secure the bumper to the inner wing in the stock location now.

In terms of looks, i'm almost there with the car to be honest. I've a new exhaust lined up to quieten it down a bit as I prefer a more luxurious ride in my old age

I have obtained a pair of front struts so I can build up my front suspension in the next few weeks/months.

Gave the car a really quick slapdash clean whilst I was at a mates house last weekend.

Preetty chuffed with how it came up considering it was cleaned with warm water and a sponge!

Reverted to the stock AFM and airbox with a K&N panel filter. Remved the Hella grille too.

That washer bottle is awsome :p

Gotta love the lowerd factory look tho and much prefer it with out the hella grill!

Steering wheels looks good too, nice and differnt to a GT...yet stil OEM

It was for sale at the beginning of January, think over Christmas too. I saw it on the offchance and saw that he'd accept a swap for a MK3 Golf so I duly messaged the lad and got the car the next day!

Spend the next weekend or two OEM-ing it up!

OEM rocks, I've fitted a rear wiper, tempted with re fitting some rub strip as well, haha

I'd be tempted to put the rub strips back on but the fresh paint on the new wings is telling me not to!

That's lookin very very nice martin and German stylee is showing through yah.

1/2 coded bumpers would look the tits on that to complete it.

Would put the bump strips on if you have them splits the solid panel up nicely in my opinion. How about removing the B pillar plastic covers get some more of your shiny paint be seen?

hmm, is it literally just removing the covers and voilla, lovely unfaded paint underneath?

It's like side strips would need petrol to wipe off the glue, they just tuck under the window rubber.

RAs are nice if you can be arsed cleaning them. Indian red centres with a polished lip would be so nice lookin

Failed it's MOT on 8 things today, a record for me!

2x headlamp aim issues

2x TCA's fucked (got brand new items to be fitted)

1x Brake pipe 'exessively corroded'

1x Rear wheel bearing

1x front suspension topmount

1x brake pedal crawling under pressure (garage aren't sure on this, they will have to inspect)

Hacked off because previous owner who fitted the suspension should have invested in topmounts and just replaced the TCAs as he was down there.

I'm getting the garage to do the work for me as I use the car everyday for the commute to work and back so it's definitely worth it. (cold weather doesn't help either)

I'll be having a suspension day come the summertime so I shall be replacing/renewing the suspension and upgrading to decent spec so for the time being i'm not too annoyed, especially considering how much the car cost me.

Did the mk2 gti airflow meter not work out?

I sold it on as I prefer the look of the stock airbox, I just don't think I was running enough power to warrant a larger AFM either. Runs a lot better without it too.
