to think this forum is all full of happy campers, is foolish, as the world isnt full of happy campers. we all have differing opinions and it makes us human. if we were all the same and thought exactly the same, it would be boring.

the lack of off topic and the banning of some members was a bit of a gay move, but at the end of the day, admin have that right to remove it. yes the club is all good for a bit of chat and we've all met sound people thru it, but really its here for its technical merits rather than jolly banter. although thats not to say the two cant mix.

and anyone who runs heartagram over at the polo show will get 10 of the queens finest pounds

The whole reason why off topic was removed was because it was abused. The attitude towards off topic didn't stay within the section, it spilled out into the rest of the forum and made it a worse place.

Since it's removal, there's been far less complaints, although we are working on something different to trial in it's place for the members.

I'm not really bothered per sai, I've no longer a member anymore, resigned to pov spec forum user, so i have no real say, but prior to off-topic, no thread was sacred, technical or otherwise and usually ended up falling foul to a bit of banter.

some of the old threads where they went off at an absolute tangent would have me in absolute tears of laughter, and newbies would sometimes join in and realise its a fun place.

we all know alot of us can be serious when we need to and give back to the community in terms of tech help both online and in real-life on peoples drivers, and with the help of FAQ's and guides.

too much policing is a bad thing, but obviously you guys know how many complaints you have to deal with, as we dont see the metrics, we dont see a problem! obviously 20 pms per day per mod/admin = alot of headache, and i can see why its labourious, something no-one wants when they log on to a computer after work.

i would have offered my help towards moderating, but I'm an abusive tw$t and wouldnt want my views, to be taken as the clubs standpoint!

I agree, Gugz. It is going through a dark phase. I'm seeing a few issues and i dont know if they're all related or what.

With no off-topic, there's less community. Now yeah we all know why it went,it was a fucking kindergarten,and when someone had to take something on the chin it wasn't accepted. Coulda just been nipped in the bud,but it all went a bit Hiroshima. No names,no elaboration,and that's just my opinion. Either way,it turned the heating down and hasn't warmed up since.

Another is the lack of general childishness from the usual suspects. I know I'm a bit serious on here but fucking hell its like a morgue. It does get a bit out of hand when people try to talk tech and just get taken the piss out of,but the other extreme and it gets like a library. I never noticed the site clowns to be a problem. Even the scenesters who looked down their noses kept some sort of balance.

Then there are the lined-up teen yobs with their attitude,and post count lower than their mental age. Got a 6n off a mate in the 'hood for the price of a smoke,and its shit its gearbox so someone's gonna pay. And that someone is us,cos they dont need to risk getting put down about it. Not much we can do there as a community,guess the Polo is more popular as a knobheads first car than previously. Plus the general decline in mutual respect these days.. Well that's a typical view of the middle aged,so maybe that's just me.

But it aint just me feeling that this place just isn't fun anymore. I laughed at someone who refurbished a set of alloys,only to find they didn't fit - as you would,but got shot down for it by a long standing member. Is it that fucking miserable in here? Hell yeah.

this site has definitely lost some thing along the way. there has ALWAYS been bitchiness, right back from when i was just an unsigned up lurker there was always arguments... some times due to a mixture of kam and photoshop lol, there has always been members on here that take shit the wrong way and fly off the handle at petty stuff, even some ending in people threatening to beat the shit out of each other when they see them next.

but back then the atmosphere was different and maybe that is what has been lost, and it's now making other problem seem much more serious than they are. before you could have some one having an argument in one thread, then the next one you click on there's a video of another member frigging herself off with a motorized sweet corn cob, it's all about balance. now that the site has lost the fun side of it the other side is becoming much more apparent.

i love the piss taking side of this club, there are some genuinely funny people on here and it only takes a couple of them to get into the swing and a whole thread can turn into comedy gold as everyone else joins in. i haven't seen that happen in a while now tbh and its a shame.

Personally, i love the forum.. purely because of the technical help I've had, anytime i post a question it always gets answered, for example, months back i asked how to flush out coolant and renew it, which would be relitivley simple for most but i needed guidance- and some guy (MikeyMK mabey) wrote me a damm good guide which is what i worked off and it was spot on,

Also some kind gentleman wrote me a guide for wiring up 8v fog lights and again it was great help! So for they reasons this forum is gold to me.

Then theres the "non - technical" side to proceedings.. the so called "bitchiness".. who actually gives a poo, seriously - it's banter if nothing else, it's not as if we are all face to face to one another! Of course opinions are going to clash and people will abuse and get abused for the shit they write but it should all be taken on the chin!

Before i used Clubpolo i wouldnt have had a clue how to mod my Polo, and probaly wouldnt have even tried - but now i have a vast knowlage of OEM wheels, suspension options, little touches that make my car stand out and ALL this knowlage came from the veteran users on here who share there wisdom..so thank you all :grin:

I actually miss all the banter tbh...I miss all the awesome build threads, but I support our decisions and the reasons why it happened.

I think to many people forget that were just people too and want to enjoy our hobby aswell.

I must admit though, too many people, mods and users (myself included) have gone through a stage of taking this forum and ourselves to seriously, I wish i could turn back time and not have so much animosity with some people, but that just isnt going to happen. I've recently had a great deal of help off some awesome people and made some new friends off of here and personally i still really enjoy the site and am looking forward to meeting people this year =D
