ok I'm toying with many ideas of what car to have/do with next.

I'm thinking at getting a cheap mk2/3 loon and AFH'n it.

Id rather keep it running stock injection due to reliabilty and costs. But i know there are problems with doing that.

Has anyone run a afh'd mk1/2/3 not using carbs? if they have I've missed the build thread I've spend 3 hours trawling club polo

Its more simple than running it on carburettor's , The loom just needs to be sorted out of useless bits and bits you need.

Guy is your best bet as he's done exactly what your wanting to do.

The loom is a work of art

Ideally you want to run the 16v alternator, which means bodging the mount and also cutting some chunks off the alternator.

You will need some of the interior loom, this has to match the engine loom (there are late and early looms, the both wont go together) You will also need the coded keys and transponder etc that match the ecu.

But as said, Guy is the best man to ask.

Cant think of anything else. we had a few problems doing it in dans, but that was due to it going into a MK1 bay more so than anything else, as theres no room

the problems that happened with dans were mostly through the miss match of early/late spec looms and a good 30 miles between his house and mine.

all you need is a full late or early spec loom and it's a piece of piss, just ask toby how quick it was before i had a loom knocked up for dan, problem was we didn't take into consideration the differences between late and early, so i made an early loom that couldn't match up to the late spec injector loom. also how hard is it to concentrate with toby rubbing his hands around his cock claiming he was just 'keeping his hands warm'?

main reasons for not usin carbs is the seen tax on the parts now, dizzy sometimes fetching 50quid is rediculas.

For using stock injection it's probably best getting a full doner car then u have all the loom, ecu ect.

i could help you with the wiring, it's easy on an afh engine, you don't need the clocks or anything stupid like that.. you will need a immo box and matching key but that can be sorted easily..

the best way by far to do it in a mk2/3 polo is to use a bog standard skoda felicia 1.6(aee) injection loom as it uses the same magnetti-marelli 1av ecu type as the afh engine so the pin-out on the ecu is identical! , i've done a couple of polos in this way, all you need to do is slightly move the throttle body plug by unravelling the insulating tape and seperating it from the map sensor plug then re-taping it... then all you need to do is feed a permanent live, switched live, rev counter wire, fuel pump control but all those are on the same multi-pin connector.

yeah i hated fuel injection systems at first, but to be fair you can't beat them for reliablity..

i like playing with old-school carbs too, i've got a kosher little 1.7 alfasad ti with quad dellorto downdraughts on it
