I remember when i got 10.01 litres for a fiver. I was 17. But then,my car insurance was £500 on a 9yo 1.3 Escort,and a studio flat in the area was £16,000 so whatever.

I earned 8k a year,i was probably better off then,relatively,than i am now. I should think most people were.

i remember those days, 50p of 4 start used to almost fill the tank of a honda melody and that would be a whole days worth of ragging the nuts off it round a field, and there would still be enough fumes left in the tank at the end of the day to get you off your box for a bit

Like why do they continue to make the illegal move of putting tax on tax when it comes to fuel prices?

Do they realise the massive fuel prices effect more then motorists, it puts the price of everything up!

Why do they insist on trying to pay off the countries massive debts when they know if the country has no debts, then the country wouldn't have a financial system.

Just stuff like that, I could go on. But no one asks these questions...or if they do they aren't made public.

The gov have got everybody well conditioned into doing exactly what they want - getting a job and paying their taxes.

I have a job so that I can go out an do things which I want to do (smoke, drink, socialise, buy parts for my car, go to shows etc etc).

If I want to go and protest about something I would have to take time off work, meaning I lose money and essentially in the long run I loose some of my hard earned "freedom". At the same time the gov also makes sure that it costs me a fair amount just to get to work (petrol). They then also get a share of my hard earned monies (automatically just so its not so intrusive - I'm sure it would feel different if there was some guy in a suit waiting by your car at the end of the day with his hand out.)

Basically it is financially difficult to go and protest against something which you disagree with. That coupled with the modern home environment of big televisions, computers with internet access and PS3's and Xbox's means that its just too easy to sit at home and moan about things but not actually do anything about it.

The cost of living is so silly in this country now, I struggle to think how some people survive!

simple mate.... how to survive in the uk in three easy steps

1. quit your job (taking up drug dealing is optional) and get on the dole

2. pop out a couple of kids (knock up a fellow doley if your a man)

3. claim housing benefit for a flat for between £5-600 pcm (keep them kids coming though, remember the more you produce the more you earn)

theres an article in a piece of literature at my work [letting agency] about a sudanese family [where standard living is a mud hut] who claim £2000 a week housing benefit in notting hill, taking up the entire salary tax contributions of 24 tax payers earning 21k per annum

locally my cheapest is shell at 126.9 for fuelsave and you know what? i dont give a toss about fuel prices the cheapest fuel i've EVER purchased was 112.9 I'm used to getting fisted by the government, but i make up for it by not earning enough to pay tax and being a student though life would be easier if the insurance company weren't shoving a two foot dildo up my backside for being young

i think its a bit off saying self employed people and footballers dont pay there way i personally see both sides of that coin I'm self employed and also have several footballers on my books when these peeps spend its obscene to you and i but they are regenerating funds and cashflow and as for self employed well i bet i dont see as big a percentage of my turnover in wages as most people do

even the not so well off prem players are hit hard as any earnings over £43,875 are taxed at 40% (that is every one from normal mp's to average prem players). i'd love to know where these papers got their figures from that they were only paying 2% income tax

i see so it's nowhere near 2%, but if you read it carefully its not 22% either. they will also have to pay income tax on how ever much they officially get paid, i guess it's safe to say that the bulk of their wages would be going to the offshore account which they are paying 22% on (or according to that 28% for mr rooney). but they are still going to also pay the correct percentage on what they are officially being paid by the club, guess that differs from player to player as there is no mention of figures in that link, but it's very safe to say that all in premiership players don't pay 2% income tax, even with this screw it's very far from it infact.
