I'd love it lower but can't with these tyres. they are 195/50/15

Can't afford to change a good set of tyres right now. but give it a couple months and I might put some 195/45/15's on and then i can go as low as before.

:)

looks awesome with the cups on mate. keep it up!

195/45s can get you a little lower whilst having tyres that fit too

So it's been a long time since I updated this thread and a lot has changed with the car. Don't have any pictures of it as it stands today - but will get some. Lots on the go currently - with bumpers getting smoothed and also alloys getting refurbed. The ATS cups are still mint - apart from one slight curb mark :((((( ! But planning to get them all polished to a 100% mirror finish in the coming months.

This was the car last month:

Right, so this is a picture heavy summary of what I've done since April 2011:

MOT time.. I replaced the Headlights with brand new ones as the adjusters were broken inside and It smartens up the whole front end. Also did the usual maintenance. Gave car a quick service. Did Front Discs/Pads and the rear shoes as there was a clear imbalance. Replaced 2 topmounts and also two brake hoses that had minor cuts in them. Exhaust was blowing so fixed that aswell.

For some reason decided that painting my steelies red for winter would be a good idea?! Had them on for abit, but looked pretty shit.

coilies were seized so took them all off. Soaked them over night in Plusgas and then used a heat gun. Once they were unseized I wire brushed the threads and used chain wax to stop em seizing again. Painted the springs.

wrapped roof in carbon fibre effect vinyl. Did it myself and I was surprised how decent the finish is, bubbles only where the roof surface had imperfections/dents and edges are neat. Stickerbombed the front just for something abit different...

continued carbon theme to my mirrors and parts of the interior - Again I was surprised that with abit of patience I was able to achieve a nice finish:

So that updates things abit. I'm planning on keeping this active again now. I know its not everyones cuppa - stickerbombing/carbon/fake gti! But It's been an enjoyable process and unfortunately I have a bit of a sticker addiction.. So the car will probably end up with a full vinyl wrap and lots of stickerbombing!

I'm planning to do a gti conversion in the summer - already sourced a lot of what is required. Also I'm looking for a g40 as I can just about afford the insurance now.

changed so much since i last saw it at the freezing cold meet at madeira drive, looking good, i don't know how I haven't seen you about in brighton.

you got a thread of your own? made much progress?

yes but no progress whatsoever apart from servicing and fixing existing issues, can afford it at the moment/ keep wasting money on tools I don't need.

aye fair enough. I'm same really modding on the cheap! Thats why I like stickers and vinyl gives me something todo but at same time doesnt bankrupt. With what I got planned tho I dont think I'm ever gonna be able to sell! won't be worth it with the money ill put into doing the conversion etc. ! So I'll either sell it before the summer or start using it as a project and try and find a nice g40 to use whilst I'm doing it. Driven a few g40s now and really need some G-Smiles in my life!

Cheers mate ye I agree about getting it lower - I had it right on the ground in the summer, but put it up for the mot and have left it there as its more practical in winter etc. Front tyres are brand new Toyo proxes and are 195/45 so can still go lower with no scrapage. The backs are 195/55 and as such would scrape loads if it was lower! But I do have another set of bbs style wheels that I've nearly finished refurbing that are all wrapped in budget low profile tyres - so will have them on for abit in the summer. Fogs are piss easy to fit literally just a case of bolting them in (I used some old bolts I had kicking around, might redo them soon as one of the bolts has come out), then getting the foglight grilles aswell. The wiring is all there for you, it's clipped up in a casing near the horn wiring if I remember correctly - if you get under the car with a torch you should be able to see it. To get them working I went to the local scrappie and got the foglight switch was 2 quid (don't waste money buying it through ebay for like 20 quid!) - Got mine from a bora I think, so not a big deal if you can't find a gti. Works perfectly and looks standard.
