Windscreen wipers only move about 1cm

Featured Replies

Hello, just realized my wipers only move about 1cm when I try to use them, they move up but never back down until I turn my engine off then they go back to where they should stay. I dont know what it can be, what do you think? It's like they get stuck or something.

Thanks Adam

Check your fuses.

Do they work when you pull the stalk?

Likely candidate's relay fault for my money.

Have no idea if they move when I pull the stalk, I have tried every direction and it only moved just a tiny bit, can't remember if it was from pulling the stalk though, I will have a look tomorrow when I am with the car again :) but I don't think it can be the fuse since it does move the little it does.. Where is the relay by the way? I will test that.

Does anything else run off the same circuit? Horn or something? Because that doesn't work either. Just wondering if it is linked..

Checked today, the only thing what happen when I pull the stalk is the window washer fluid squirts.. The back wiper works when I push the stalk but nothing when I lift the stalk.

Anybody know?

I can hear the relay cluck when selecting the wiper speed, so I doubt it isn't the relay :( have Also changed fuse. What else? Dodgy motor?

I had a similiar problem where would only move slightly, i checked everything electrical and nothing.

What it was is where the wiper has a cover on the end and is bolted the bolt was a bit lose meaning the arm was turning but not moving the wiper.

Remove your scuttle panel put your wipers on and see if the arm link between the motor and the wiper is moving, if so just tighten it all up.

hope this helps
