What upgrades are there for the xenon hid bulbs in the GTI?

And what bulbs does the 6n2 take? H7?

And what fog bulbs? H3?

Used to a 6n so not too sure about the 6n2.

6n2 fog are also H7

6n2 GTi headlights are D2S (iirc) - if I'm wrong, someone will correct me :-)

These D2S bulbs, what wattage would the gti take?

With them being HID, I would think 35w. (HID equivalent of 55w) 55w HID would be for off road use (100w equivalent)

Interesting, would the gti wiring be able to cope with a 55w bulb?

I don't see why not... I've got 80w fogs when they should be 55w (std bulbs, not HID) and have had no problems.

I know with non-oem hid's if the ballast is 35w and you put a 55w bulb in, it'll only have 35w output but not too sure with standard HID's

With the GTi D2s Bulbs, forget about the wattage. It's down to the Temp.

Standard they are 4300k, most people upgrade to 6000k, I think the ballasts get stretched after that, but some people have fitted 8000k; but I wouldn't recommend that.

Would a higher wattage 4100k bulb produce more light?

the best light output is between 4000-6000k. Hence why manufactures use 4300k. I use 5000k as they look blueish/cool and have a great light output. 6000k look even better but the light output is a little lower.

I never really considered the wattage on HID bulbs, its just not needed.

I would go for 5000k or 6000k no higher unless you want the look over use.

I have fitted 8000k d2s to my gti and they are loads brighter than the 6000k that I had fitted before. And way brighter than the standard 4300k too

You shouldn't need to upgrade the wattage.

All you do is put different temp bulbs in. The fitting is D2S.

I fitted 8K bulbs on my GTI lights and they look awesome! Will get pics of the lights on if I get chance.

Probably gonna go for the 6000k, dont really want unwanted attention from cops from the 8k blue tint.

if you're upgrading high beam, that's a H1 bulb...

Also, you say you don't want attention from the cops, yet you want 100w bulbs which aren't road legal?!

Are they not? So whats the highest output I can have as road legal?

Can i have 100w as fog lights or is that not allowed either?

Highest wattage legally is 55w for standard bulbs, 35w for HID's. That applies to fogs too afaik.
