ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT ERROR

Featured Replies

Hi

Yesterday my car was making a grinding noise in one of the front wheels, then it stopped and later on the ABS LIGHT came on and stayed on every since along with the BRAKE light flashing on and off constantly.

I have topped up the brake fluid with dot 4 but still no luck, could it be the fornt brake pads on the way out?

is that why the lights have come on and the grinding noise was coming from one of the front wheels on the same day?

thanks

My ABS light was solid and brake light flashed because of a duff front sensor.

When the back sensors go it only seems to bring on the ABS light, not the handbrake light.

So, could be a faulty sensor, but get it on Vagcom to check. :)

abs light stays on when theres a fault in its system, like if a sensor fails it thinks theres a wheel locked all the time so shuts of.

does the pedal vibrate at all before the abs light comes on,like you have no brakes? or is the abs light on as you start a journey?

the pedal doesnt vibrate but i must say it does feel likes it goes down abit abnormally, cant explain.

and teh abs light stays on as soon as the key goes in and the handbrake light comes on and beeps 3 times before carrying on flashing .

does sound like a sensor is duff or not connected

i had the same thing after having a wheel bearing replaced, the mechanic had bent the terminals in the abs plug while connecting back up

weird for the handbrake light to come up though??

where are the sensors located for the abs and braking system?

one on each corner

but vagcom will tell you the exact one as the abs light has stayed on, you will get a fault code giving a description of the problem
