have you got the number plate on retention then?? If you sell/scrap a car and want to keep the number plate or dont have another car to put it on you have to apply to put it on retention. This means they keep it for you until you have a car to put it on, you must pay them each year to do this.

do you pay the dvla ?? If so then the number plate is yours yes and you can try and sell it to the dvla or any other cherished registrations company. If you have not been paying the retention fee then unfortunately you no longer own the number plate, even if you keep the paperwork, as far as they are concerned the number plate went with the car.

if you have it on retention contact various cherished registration comapnies and they will either buy it from you or sell it on your behalf.

aah right ok. in that case then i shall not try and sell it. aah well thanks for the reply

No :(

No :(

If you have any doubts mate just ring the dvla and say ask where you stand with the number plate and what the situation is with it, you might be able to get it back for free???!!! :-D
