VW charge around £110 an hour, VW specialist £60 an hour, backstreet garage around £40-50 an hour, depends on area aswell, in or around london is generally more expensive than further away?

but relative if you find a good mechanic, my mechanic charges £50 an hour and i have no trouble paying that as i know he is a good worker

ask friends who they use that is always a good thing to go off instead of playing the yellow pages/google lottery.

defo worth looking round my gf recomended me to someone shes friends with or summin and theyed fit my suspension cheap

£100 for just over 3 and half hours which was quite cheap tbh

couple days later i had somthing knocking and rattling quite loudly and my suspension was not evan done up tight of the top of the mounts lucky i checked i guess

and they fitted brake pads for me for £10 which was there over an hour in my eyes there quite slack but paying cheap prices i could not complain but I've said I'm never going back there

in comparison to what? That's what mechanics I know tend to charge, in back street garages that is. Main dealers usually £100/hr or more.

BMW charge £41 to change a bulb!

had my feul tank changed, new filter and exhaust mounts welded back on car for £100, happy with that :)

think that was £30 and houre but depends on location and garages reputation also, you will probably get same job time and finish in back street as you would VW

i always use a specialist, it all started with my mk2 as all the service history was with that specialist so i kept taking it there and they are pretty decent ( i only use them for jobs i cant do or its too cold or wet to do) but they charge about 50 an hour but they are top notch blokes

Pfeiffer Partnership

I've seen as much as £180 an hour to do simple jobs. I've been quoted £300 to have a look at a valve, no chance

I heard the garage talking to a poor dude on the phone about his corsa, new head gasket would be 400 for 3 hours work. I would have told them to shove their head gasket where the sun don't shine

My local VW wants £70 an hour and i can honestly say they are grade A cowboys! (from experience)

But on the brighter side leterally round the corner is a wee family run garage to which the service is second to none! He uses gunuine parts aswell and has a ps3 in the waiting room :D

i work for vauxhall and we charge 74 quid per hour. glad I'm a mechanic hahahaha.

not sure on the average price really i know a mobile mechanic he charges £30 an hour does good work etc etc

i'd never go to a main dealer, they are trained to rip people off and are on the hole bad mechanics dont know much away from diagnostic computers

Bet Vauxhall don't let you see too much of that 74 quid an hour....

I usually get charged £40 an hour labour for general work and then the aircooled place I use charges £60 an hour, but they take less time than most other places because they do the same jobs day in day out...

anywere between £30-£60 a hour depenting were you go in the area.

do everything myself bar painting and trackingand mot.

tracking is easy all you need is a long peice of string and a adjustable spanner and lil bit of paitence lol

where i work we charge 40 an hour. so its a pretty average rate.

quoted 720 inc labour & vat for a new gearbox in my 6n2.

ouch

worst part is i/we are actually gunna pay it
