mechanic proply sees a head gasket a bigish job aswell so either doit yourself or someone from here might doit for you cheaper

really, if the mechanic sees a head gasket as a big job, they are abit of a piss poor mechanic.

The garage i work charges £80 per hour.

but you can end up paying low or high hourly rates for work done by a poor mechanic or a good mechanic

yep seen it done before many times aslong as you can be arsed remember it'l cost £40+ easily

i went to stafford university to there race team garage and they say they never use lazer lignment the same to be said the magority of teams they do it loads of time throughout the a race weekend think about how many times the wheels get knocked lol (formula 3 i think)

had a guest lecture from some bloke who used to be in f1 he said the old boys did it woth string when the young uns could figure out the lasers

sounds about right lmao

i think it is more for saving time than accuracy, string will never get an accurate setting

it is based on the same principles though the string touching the same point on the wheel and a lazer beamming at a the same point thers not much difference in time either way you have to manually adjust the track rod ends thats the whrer it takes time, ok so it takes aproximatly 12 seconds to attach a piece of string but hey ho lol :)

Getting a gearbox, clutch, new backbox fitted all for £60. Gotta love having mechanic mates :)

Haha, well i watch F1 religiously and can't say i've ever seen any string knocking about behind camera shots. Although i can actually believe they would do such things like this!

Hmm, need my tracking doing asap... Is it worth just biting the bullet and getting it done professionally for 40quid+ first time round?
