is this a joke?

Everything is difficult if you dont know what your doing, plus if the engines from a completely different car the engines never going to be a straight fit plus you have all the other complications like electrics, drive shafts block size engine mounts gearbox sizes etc so why ask?

Research and gather information, measurements, block sizes then come and ask ridiculous questions.

bit harsh dont u think.... think the guys only after a bit of info not silly answers like "is this a joke" wind your neck in !

In relatio to your question..... yes its a diffcult conversion as none of the polo mounts are a direct fit :D unless your handy with a welder then leave it 8-)

haha shut up

and i know its going to be hard just gotta be done i fancy doing it so it will be done however hard it is.

i got mates who are all minded for this just not me so it will get done lol

thanks for the advice tho tony :D

For the complexity of fitting, the end result will not be worth it. Have a search around, this question gets asked very often.

Ian.

Wont fit easily.

pretty sure that engines too big and too much of a ballache, for not much gain

if u do end up doing it....... why not go for more power.... i mean the 2.0 16v ABF's are 150 bhp?? the 1.8 20v turbos use the same mount...... so do the vr6's and the r32's if your feeling a bit insane?

haha i really wanted to do vr6 but i want to keep to 8v as not much chance of the dreaded police around my area knowing the difference of the 8v engines lol

i dont know i mean i can get the mounts made up from my mate who works at a big engineer place and i also have a couple of mates for the wiring etc......

why does everyone post "can i fit a 2.0 8v in my 6n" its ridiculous as it gets posted at least twice a week and why an 8v when there is so many better options that are more worthy of the effort.

lol mine is only a 1.0l at the min that cam out of the factory with 50 bhp in 99, so the 2.0l which my mate has sold me has 130 dyno readings so think that will be enough for me for a while lol

cheers tho

simply because I'm getting the engine cheap cheap and mine is a 8v but only a 1.0l so the power will shock me all the time any way...

if thats what you want go for it but it wont a cheap conversion unless you can do all the work yourself.

well all my mates are into the conversions so they are all gona work on it with me..... most of them have done conversions 3,4 may b 5 times on diff dubs so hopefully all will go to plan got the help there lol

cheers pal

your basically saying you wanna do the 8v so that if you get pulled over the police wont notice? So your saying that your not declaring your mods.

Hence why when you crash into someone your insurance is void thus affecting my premiums and your one of the main reason I have to pay £550 a year to insure my AFH Polo!!!

Turns out your a nob!

the only way a 2.0 8v is gonna touch your engine bay is if you crash into a golf gti 8v.

Its not going to fit without expencive work, and for the same effort you can get alot more power, then theres insuring it, and from what gather your using a 1litre polo due to insurance costs.

If you actualy pull it off il chop my cock of for you.

am i missing something? where did he say that won't he declare the conversion.

lol.. it will be done however hard it is to do, the 1.0l is only here because it was cheap 3 yr ago wen i bort it with only 41,000 on the clock on a v plate

He didn't out and out say it but hes pretty much implied it here..

2.0 8V is a waste of time imo. If your gonna do it might as well do it properly or just do a quick swap of your 1.0L for a 1.4 6N motor.

Sounds like he's gunna declare it here...

aww come on guys, it's really not that hard to put an 2.0 8v engine into a 6n polo, it's not a very nice fit but it will go, the block itself is only 30mm wider than a 1.0 block for those that are uniformed!

you will need some parts from a diesel engined model to make it work including the engine mountings and you will need to use the diesel gearbox too because the 2.0 block has a different gearbox bellhousing pattern, the diesel engine mounts bolt straight onto the petrol block... if it's done in this way it puts the engine at a different angle for which it was designed to be used but with some careful mods/adaptions to the sump and oil pickup it's not too much of an issue, the other issue is the intake manifold sticks up higher than the bonnet line so you will need to do a cut and shut on the manifold or cut a hole in the bonnet..

i built one a few years ago for a friend using a £20 ebay engine, pictured above is the cut-n-shut intake manifold i did, basicly I cut up the gti manifold and fabricated by own plenum, also i used the 1.9 diesel exhaust manifold (which also bolts straight on) which meant that i could use a standard diesel exhaust downpipe with the dpf removed..

all I can say is, if you have some skills and plenty of time on your hands, go for it! although the wiring will cause you a massive balls-ache, i used the golf gti motronic ecu and hand-made the loom for the engine from scratch using bits robbed from the golf loom, all in it cost me about £300 including a second hand newman cam i got off ebay, and a chipped ecu..

thankyou very much for the advice, that will help me out alot. and glad somebody hasdecided to say its not that hard i was getting a bit warey of it..... but thats give me more confidence to go for it. cheers pal

fwiw i think you'd be better off putting a 1.4 16v in there, it was an easy conversion doing the 2.0 but then i have vast experience playing with vw's. at least if you do a 16v job you can use 'standard' parts and there are numerous folks who've done it who can offer advice... dont underestimate just how many wires there are on a fuel injected engine!!
