Mk2/3 exhaust parts for sale, will bring to RR day

Featured Replies

I have various Polo parts that I no longer need, and will be bringing them to the RR day on 2nd February 2013. You can pay for and collect them then.

Exhausts

- standard mid section Mk2/3 £5

- sport rear section, nice exhaust note, twin DTM exit with cut down tailpipes to make it look more sensible on a Mk2. For Mk2 only really. £15

- GT cast manifold, ok condition £10

- G40 cat pipe, good condition £20

- G40 cast manifold in v.good condition with Zircotec ceramic heat resistant coating (like exhaust lagging tape only much better). I'm told that the coating itself costs over £100, but as I have no real need for it, it can go for £60

Engine

- Complete cylinder head (including cam) for 1.8 8v Mk1/2 Golf GTI or Mk2 Scirocco GTX (Engine code DX) £40

- GT injector rail & injectors, one of the mounting brackets has broken off, so this is only good for parts. Anyone after some spare injectors etc. Free

Other

- Mk2 Coupe S grille (quad light version with red pin-stripes) in ok condition. Has a crack in but still fits onto the car fine. £5

- Front wheel arch liners from a Mk2 coupe (should be same as a breadvan I would think) £5

- Rear windscreen wiper, wiper arm and motor £20

- Set of grey plastic sill trims (arch trims not included) £30

ill take the cylinder head if you can confirm if it has double valve springs!

will get someone to collect at the RR day, as I dont think I will be making it now!

Your joking saf? I'm supposed to be giving you a 1043 head for nathan lol

Ill have the g40 manifold, mid section and rear section i think mate.

Are the mid section and rear section GT/G40 or just CL?

Also, Would you accept £50 for this lot plus the GT cam?

The head is a standard early spec 3F head. It takes the square tooth cambelt which makes it a '90 or '91. The cam pulley is not included as I used it on my new head. Is there a way of knowing if it has double valve springs without dismantling the head? I can take a look, but would prefer not to have to start taking out valve springs.

Do you want the cam as well?

I have no problem with someone else collecting it for you, just let me know beforehand who it will be, so I don't get 5 people all telling me they're collecting it for you! :-D

can you pm me your number dan and ill sort it out, chuck in your paypal address and send you the tenner as a gift. ill work out with someone this week as to whos collecting, and ill only have one person come up to you about it, dont like messing people about =]

no cam required mate, but i will need the cam journals.

youll probably have to remove the valves to find out, for a tenner ill risk it mate, just need a casting for a G40 engine I'm building and ill be replacing all the valves anyway.

i have a std cam pulley at home so thats fine.

cheers mush!

I presume you are referring to the standard G40 manifold not the ceramic coated one?

As far as I know mid and rear sections are GT/G40, although I don't actually know what the visual difference is between the two. If you tell me what is different I can check for you.

As "Grungeisdead" doesn't want the cam then yes you can have that lot for £50. Removing the remaining studs from the manifold will be a pain no doubt, so I don't mind effectively giving that part away for free.

I'll be at RR day and the at Manc union on sunday if i can be of assistance Saf

Exhausts

- standard mid section Mk2/3 (x2) £10 each

- standard rear section Mk2/3 £10

- sport rear section, nice exhaust note, twin DTM exit with cut down tailpipes to make it look more sensible on a Mk2. For Mk2 only really. £20

- de-cat pipe for GT engine £20

- G40 cast manifold (has some studs stuck) £10

- G40 cat pipe, good condition £20

- G40 cast manifold in v.good condition with ceramic heat resistant coating (like exhaust lagging tape only better). I'm told that the coating itself costs over £100, but as I have no real need for it, it can go for £80

I'm looking for a replacement mid section from flexpipe all the way to backbox as mine was cobbled together by a drunken tramp with a welder wearing a blindfold so the bend is in the wrong place.

I've got a mk2 bready. your standard mid and end pipes, are they standard pipe or the larger g40? I'm hoping to have a setup without a cat. can you cobble together enough exhaust parts to help me out?

cheers,

Yes the standard one, Not the ceramic coated.

It turns out i don't need the rear section, Just the mid section, the g40 manifold and the GT cam.

So is £40 ok for all that?

If you could PM me your number then i will get in touch on the day.

Hey dude,

Dont supose you got a pic of the rear sports section exhaust??

I think the exhausts are all the larger GT/G40 pipe size. I can measure the diameter if that would help?

Thinking about it I'm pretty sure I have a GT manifold as well, so I don't know how well it would fit your head, but potentially I can sort you a complete GT exhaust: manifold, de-cat pipe, mid-section and rear section.

You would need to check if a GT manifold fits a carb head though, as I don't know. Alternatively you could just have mid and rear section if you prefer?

I don't necessarily need the manifold, how does it differ from the standard 1300? if it would fit my standard block and would power gains could be found ill have it, as long as the set up would fit my bready shell. how much would the two options cost? cheers.

As I don't have a 1300 manifold I can't compare it with a GT manifold so I don't know what the difference is I'm afraid. If you want to know whether the GT manifold will work on your engine I suggest you post something in the technical help section and see if anyone knows.

Standard GT mid-section and rear-section are £10 each, so £20 for the two. The mid-section includes the flexi pipe.

GT manifold and de-cat are £20 each, but you can have them for £30 if you buy both, so for the total system engine back it would be £50.

I see no reason why it wouldn't fit your breadvan. It came off my Mk2 coupe and they are the same underneath.

I don't have any pics of it on its own, but it looked like this when it was on my car:

Cool mate. So thats GT Manifold (which is the same as any mk3, 4 -2 -1) decat section which is 2 pipes down to 1, flex pipe, gt mid (which is effectively a section of straight pipe, and then the s bend, ready for me to mount by backbox on to?

Just want to check exactly what I'm letting myself in for before I commit. The GT system is 48mm diameter I think.

Assuming you're coming to the RR day, I will hold all 4 parts for you, so you can come and look at them and decide. That way you won't hand over any money until you've seen them. If you decide not to have them then thats up to you.

I measured the GT rear-section the other day and it seemed round about 44mm diameter, although thats a very rough measurement. One of the mid-sections was on the car when I bought it (with GT conversion already fitted), hence why I'm fairly confident they're GT not CL exhausts.

The mid-section is not quite a straight pipe, there is a small inline silencer on it, but it doesn't actually reduce the noise much.

I've updated the list at the top of the page with what is still available following the RR day.

Although I would prefer collection, postage is possible. However the sport rear exhaust section is quite bulky so would be fairly expensive to post.

There's still stuff left. See listing at top of page.

Sorry I've been really busy and forgot to check the listing. Do you still want the exhaust centre section? I would need to measure and weigh it to confirm, but postage would be in the region of £10-£15.

How Much for GT manifold posted?

I'm guessing you've probably found a GT manifold by now as your post was a while ago, but if you still need one then postage would be around £15 as cast manifolds are quite heavy, so say £35 posted.

If you're still interested in it then send me a PM as I'm more likely to notice that than a post in this thread.

Thanks.

Dan have you got a g40 downpipe?
