2nd car insurance

Featured Replies

Just wanted to get your views and whether I'm missing a trick here ? currently i drive a VW Polo as my daily drive on a Fully Comp with 7 yrs no claims no convictions etc etc and this summer i want to start driving my 2nd car on a limited milage every now and then 3rd party so basically the cheapest insurance you can get but legal ,but after ringing the insurance company i am with they are quoting me over a hundred £ more than my f C as they reckon as its a new insurance that needs to start so having to start with zero no claims blah blah blah .

I just wanted to know how many guys and girls on here drive a 2nd car and their way round it ?? as I'm only driving it for the summer i even asked the insurance company if they do a 6 mth insurance but to no avail but I'm not happy i need to pay £100 up front and 10 months of installments .

Any advise will be helpful as I'm begining ti thk i might as well get rid if its going to be expensive . :-(

I've got to add that i still need to keep the Polo on the same insurance but the 2nd only used every now and then i just thought it would of been easier like a bolt on to yr insurance with a simple like increase but as i said I've been told it has to start new

Short term insurance is expensive, not really much point looking into it.

What type of car is the 2nd one? If its over 15 years and not a shitter then try and get it on a classic policy, they dont use bonus anyways.

Or find someone who "mirrors" bonus across where they take that 7 years into account but dont take it off the other policy.

Dont forget that if you only use it for 6 months then the miles will be limited yeah?

So 3k miles a year means the insurance will be cheaper.

Almost everyone you go to will have to start a new policy though, just the way insurance works I'm afraid!

have you tried a admiral multi car quote? i was having a look on there a while ago and it seemed quite good
