As we all no insurance is a bomb if your under 21 so since iv been 17 iv been under my grandads name on his insurance and earning my no claims with direct line I'm now almost 20 and can afford to go under my own name I have just found out that in the small print the 2years no claims I have are only valid with direct line and they won't quote me a price as its to much. So now I have to pay 1900 in a lump sum or around 2500 if I pay monthly

Lesson learnt, Read the small print at all times.

We all have to bite the bullet. the first year is tough but trust me it comes down a heck of a lot in the second so long as your licence is clean still!

(p.s. 1.4 16v??)

that's not bad for your first policy in your name on a 16v.

I piad £1500 on a 1.3 55bhp MK2 Polo on my first car on my policy. That was 7 years ago.

I paid £1422.32 TPFT for my 1.0 6n2 "standard" with Pass Plus for the first year - just me, was cheaper that way:-?

2nd year £1536.50 TPFT (with 1non fault, fault accident... see other threads if you want info) with 2 named drivers, still "standard".

not looked at insurance for year 3 yet...

i pay 940 a year for my 1.4 8v 6n2. thats as named driver on me dads. with co-op, so my noclaims isnt transferrable :|.

this is why I'm seriously considering motorbike. 600cc bike.. 17 (so yah it's meant to be restricted to 33bhp till 2 years license), anyways... 750 quid a year! bargain

i called up admiral today and they said the same thing and insured me for 1238.88 :) so very pleased and at the end of the year they will give my 3 years no claim :D

I take it you never saw the TV adverts for direct line saying the NCD earn is only valid if you take out a policy with them?!

my dad has put me on his while I'm a learner, they still wanted £500 for that (his paying for 2 months at a time instead now till i pass!) but we did a quote online TPFT and just passed with 0 no claims bonus and it was £870 (1.0 L 6n2) which i thought was pretty good compared to other cars that were in our price range! some quotes are just bloody stupid!!
