Just a couple of pics of progress so far.

It's starting to come together now, slowly!

Coilovers going on next week and all filling and plastics should be done too.

Looking forward to getting on the road asap.

The whole car is going to be cream with the matt black roof.

Its all a wrap, no paint involved.

Coilovers went on this morning....post a pic or two later.

Need to lift the engine if I want to go lower for daily driving.........any sugestions??

looking good mate

cant really comment untill its slammed ;)

I built a vr6 estate the same shape as that I had mine lower than that and had no problems and vr6 sump sat alot lower than the the standard 1.6 sump :)

It will go lower, theres about 4 inches clearance on the sump but.......

I'm a car audio and security installer and 70% of my work is done mobile, farm lanes, new build houses and industrial eststes with speed bumps. So its got to be driveable as I did 42k miles in the last 18 months!

If I can lift the engine in any way I can drop a little more though.

You think that engine sits low!! I have a 1.9TDi version of the same car and you should see the engine in that. It's like a cows udders. Mine is low but i would not want to be going up any farm lanes to be honest.

Sump guard?

Same engine as mine then.

On bigger wheels I could get the tyres up in the arches more, but on 15's with 45 profile tyres I will struggle to get clearance on the sump.

Was happy with the stance yesterday but it needs to go lower somehow!

Ah sweet engine the ALH also loads of tuning available :) you going to up the power or not fussy?

I have 16" wheels for this reason. 15 inch wheels need 50 profile tyres to maintain the original rolling radius of the standard wheels. So yeah 45 tyres you won't be able to go much lower without having clearance issues.

Got a mate that does re-mapping, but if it's ok on fuel I probably wont bother.

Love these wheels and want to keep the lower profile tyres so will be looking to raise the engine in some way.

Heard you can raise a mk3 golf engine by putting a hockey puck underneath the engine mounts....hope to do something similar.

Hockey puck? Lol. Never heard of it but see how it goes. Used to play ice hockey and those vulcanised rubber pucks are Hella tough.

saw someone use the hockey puck on edition on a golf estate diesel

Cars looking good, have you got any further ?? Have been waiting for an update

I've got the same car, got quite a few bits together to mod it, but still holding out on getting the coilies & fitting everything on as I'm not sure I can get it as low as I want it & still be able to use it everyday due to the sump :-(

Got 15's to go on it, but considering upping to 16's just to get a bit of sump clearance, but then its extra $$$ & this was meant to be a cheap runaround, lol.
