mk3 1.4 16v, zx6r carbs, 4 branch-pikey decat-ashley backbox, megajolt ignition system, no air-filters for even less restriction :paranoid:,

Wheels - 100

Fly - 130

Torque - dunno

Didnt jon post them all up last year? Hes got them all written down :?

2.9 VR6: Grant Motorsport P+P Head, 263/264 Cat Cams, P+P Intake manifold + Throttle body, 6 branch and Miltek system, DG Autotech Remap, K&N, samco hose kit,

wheels - 149

fly - 193

torque - 170

A standard VR is: 190 fly and 180 torque. They took the thing up to just under 130mph in 4th and it did it pretty fast.

do they do the run in 4th gear? My mate was watching the speedo on my run and said it went of the clock

its pretty confusing tbh, some figures seem right yet others seem off. I don't know where my 125 came from, its either out or the engine has been played with. I've messaged the lad i got it off to find out the user name of the ed38 user he bought it off, that might shed some light on the matter. I'm temped to take it to a local place for a run but don't have the spare cash at the min.

Yeah I think every run is in 4th, mine will go way way off the clock in 4th (100mph speedo)

My results were very disappointing, infact it started playing up on the way home. Need to investigate.

Yes Jon has them all written down. He will post up the spreadsheet with them all on soon I guess :)

1.3 gt, decat + stainless exhaust jetex filter dewedged tb, (i think 7k chip and polished head), maybe more but i dont know.

fly - 98

wheels - 70

torque i cant remember

take 5 bhp off for how far rollers were out lol

1.3GT mildy ported head, std GT cam, stock air box/tb, CL exhaust, 4branch/de cat,8k chip

Fly-91 @6186

Torque-85@3500ish

1.8 20vt dump valve, air filter, fabia vrs exhaust and a remap. 190bhp 150bhp at wheels. 215 torque. happy with that and is about right we reckon :)

its been said that the wheel figure should be right but the flywheel could be out. So if i find a mk3 that has 90bhp at the wheels like mine would its flywheel bhp give a good indication of what mine should be? Or does it not work that way?

Guy- I think the wheels figures were spot on, we expected Andy's car to be around the 200bhp mark (gave 167bhp atw), a Mk3 Polo box/drivetrain is generally accepted to have a 30bhp transmission loss between the flywheel and road- Aldon had been struggling with the coast down (which is used to roughly calculate flywheel power) so were dialing in acceptable figures.

I'm not surprised the AFH engines made good power, they've got a really good cylinder head.

Popdragin's Mk3 GT was on the money too- circa 90bhp has been the benchmark for 3F engines for years, so I'd say say the rollers were accurate. Also the Mini I think was 196 atw from the factory, and gave 197atw with a power commander and homebrew exhaust- again perfectly good results.

Kerrly- I'd get your car in for a health check and have the cams setup, something's not right!

Polo GT: Stainless 4 branch, decat, stainless exhaust system, golf GTi AFM and K&N Filter, Poloace chip and according to the previous owner 'g40jon' it has a ported throttlebody too.

so you'd say with mine pulling 90 atw its gonna have more like 120 atf?

I'd still be more than happy with that mind, i just didn't feel right telling people its got 125bhp when there were doubts about it, but if you say 120 is a more realistic figure based on wheel bhp then i'm happy to run with that

Is this your AFH?

Mine last year did 99 at the wheels which they calculated 126 at the fly. so I would say 115-120 at the fly is about right :)

yours was on carbs wasnt it though mark?

It still seems to be wrong imo.

From what you can tell, Guys is a standard afh getting the power a carb'd afh gets?

Unless theres hidden mods it makes no sense.

Yes... I thought he had some stuff done to it. Hummm..

It's still producing less than a carbed AFH but more than what it should as standard. Double Hummmmm :-D

There was a mk4 16v there last year that had a chip, SS exhaust system and BMC air box and that was 120bhp at the fly.. can't remember the wheel value. But yes you are right It shouldn't be near that value..

Who Knows!!

120bhp @ flywheel sounds fine, Tej, Robin etc always had around 115bhp-120bhp with standard bolt on mods, so no reason why an engine with a few more miles under its belt can't give the same (if a few more) ponies.

Remember it was also 2.0'C on the day! Aldon give raw power figures too, no correction for baro, temp or humidity- so the figures will be up compared to summer running.

Martin has golf AFM related fail.

Lookin at atw figures guy - charles' loop had 90 and was 126 at the fly. so dont see why yours should be wrong :)

Martin has golf AFM related fail.

as in the huge dip in the power curve right where they are normally at their best

it may not be of relevance but my dizzy cap and rotor arm got replaced yesterday as they were royally trashed!

I'd swap it for a standard AFM tbh.

I looked into the golf ones, such a faff to set up it seems barely worth it.

Prob more like 197bhp at flywheel, but 215lb/ft ain't so bad. Needs a bit more ignition advance and a touch less fuel between 5500rpm and 6000rpm so there's more of a peak in the power curve rather than a plateau! Still, I'm pretty happy with that.

Martins curve is almost identical to mine and i run a standard AFM.
