spent 2 hours rubbing down and prepping the new white bonnet tonight that I had picked up last week. rubbed it down with 400 grit wet and dry and then 600 grit. then after a trip to halfords I rubbed it down with 1200 grit. then rubbed it down with a tac rag and began to mix the new paint I bought with thinners. my mate set it up in the gun and sprayed a test panel. looked sweet and matched the car exactly so then began to spray the bonnet, base coat, 2nd coat and third coat and then a fourth coat with a little more thinners in it to bring out the shine a bit more. pearlescent paint is a bastard to get right! but it looks sweet. pics tomorrow :)

Still needs laquering, that will be done tomorrow, then begin on stripping the rest of the car ready for paint. Today consisted of taking the front bumper off and snapping the bolt that holds the bumper on under the numberplate recess so i gave up and came home.

decided to do a bit of welding on my dinner break today. Welded up my aeriel hole on the passenger wing

And welded up the holes on the tailgate to stick the polo badge into,

weldingcoupe2.jpg

nice work robbo :) u going for anymore smoothing while your messing? rear badge, side repeaters?

  • Author

no man, wanna keep the bodywork reasonably standard looking. i just think the aeriel and the boot badge holes look ugly as I'm debadging the rear.

Whats going on with you since we last spoke? u sold the 6n? you found a supercharged rocket yet?

Thought you were coming down dude? i wanna see the coupe!

  • Author

hahaha a standard coupe with patches of white primer all over it and front g40 seats. hardly worth seeing! haha

  • Author
