Complete noob to these types of suspension but why does everyone seem to use air over hydraulic suspension?

hydraulics twice the price.. airs a better ride.. a lot less kit with air.

...that said I've only ever owned air.

Air is far from a better unless u wanna spend BIG BIG bucks to get it right even then big bucks hydraulic systems can be just as good

even with hydraulics installs can be reduced to a minnium with 1 pump and a 4 way manifold.. will fit in your tire well easily... !!

saying that I've worked with air and hydraulics in the passed...... air is cleaner.... and alot alot more BORING hydraulics are messey but only if u make it messey... can be sooooooo much more fun and faster sounds betta aswell ! click below for 2 videos of mine working

Air is a lot easier to plumb in. A basic hydro setup is easy, but you'll have no suspension movement when driving. To get a good ride and quick moves takes a lot more work and thought.

since when is air easier than hydraulics......... ?? they all have lines....to run....all have valves.. all run off a 12v battery? all use ptfe tape..? expect one inflates a bag using a compressor.. and one uses a pump?

what pipe have you been smokin when you say .. "you will have no suspension movment when your moving"

was going by a rayvern set up.. maybe not double the price but know its more expensive.

only ever read that hydro set ups can be abit of a harsh ride.. not sure if you can have ajustable rebound and damper on it etc?

all the hydro kits I've see are big mad things with loads of batterys!! lol. guess all the big air set ups are the same size really. suprised how compact that set up is.

...got say thats a good price for everything u need for a hydro setup.. would of thought everything would of been custom made etc. :-)

EDIT: video of ure car in the garage cracks me up.. can imagen a load of midgets fighting in the car!!

They're all running accumulators to give suspension movement. A basic hydro instillation wouldn't have these, and hence no suspension movement and a shit ride.

AFAIK there is no damping just with accumulators etc, You just have to run a seperate shock, which will give you a near 'normal' ride quality. Surely the same goes for airbags too no?

Air can compress, hydraulic fluid can't therefore the suspension can't move once the ride height is set as the wheel hits a bump. With accumulators as the wheel hits a bump in the road (and the ram compresses) it allows an amount of fluid to flow into it. As the wheel comes off the bump and the ram extends the accululator forces the fluid to pass back into the ram (using a nitrogen charge iirc). The other way to do it is to run the rams in pairs with one mounted on the suspension as normal and one mounted remotely with one end solid mounted and the other pushing against a spring, so as the ram compresses it pushes the opposing ram against the spring and allows suspension movement.

Springs in a box.... personally i wouldnt like to have 4 loaded springs held in a box in the rear of my car... acumlators are far far safer , betta looking and easier to install not to mention soooooo much cheeper than a remote suspension setup !

I dunno. Remote springs mounted inside the doors with a clear lexan door car could look trick. As you say accumulators are a lot cheaper and work just as well from what i've ridden in.

Think I've ceen that car sumwhere yee it looked awsome but imagine a loaded springs by your leg

Thats why I was thinking lexan, bolted in from inside so if it went it should just blow a big mound in the outer skin haha.
