Fuel additive for 6n 1.6 ?

Featured Replies

Shoul I throw a can of K44 in the tank ? This car never used these things and i have no particular problem but I thought it could do good.

What do you say ? And ny the way, should you replace the fuel filter if i do use the additive ?

It's a good idea to change the fuel filter regularly anyway.

I find that my Polo goes much better (and gives better MPG), running on the 'super' grades of petrol (my local petrol station is Total, so I use their Exelium), most of the other petrol companies have one of these 'super' grades. The problem is that you now have to pay about £1.40/l for it!!

I've never been keen on fuel additives, and even less keen on the ones that you can put in oil, much preferring to put in a better product, that has been formulated by a proper Chemist, rather than the hit and miss method of adding things to an inferior product.

You don't get an instant improvement with these super grades of petrol, you would need to run at least one tank full through before you would get much of an improvement.

So you suggest that fuelling 98 octane will do better for the fuel system than additives ?

higher octain fuel will help clean out the injecters/fuel system, as well as adding performace but in a polo you wont notice the performace, the only thing i noticed when driving a 16v was it ran smoother.

tesco have the highest octane of 99, shell and bp are 98, total and the other companys are 97, wish we could get 101 lol

i always run my starlet on the higher octane fuel and it runs so much better on 99 than 97or 98.
