6n build

Featured Replies

righhttt, bored at uni so i thought i would do a build thread of whats going on when i go home on the weekends.

so I've got my focus st <<<<< which is putting out 400brake but does like to drink a bit of petrol,

being a skint student and loving the vw scene i thought i would take on a bit of a project.

i bought this nato green polo which is a 95 1.4 8v. really good engine for the age and miles and i loved how it was unique. dont ask me why i love the colour i just do haha

this is when i first bought it...

IMG_0648.jpg

bought some steel wheels from a friend 15inch 7j front and 8j back £300 which i thought was a bit of a bargain ?

absolutly love the stance think they really suit it.

IMG_0578.jpg

IMG_0545.jpg

some pics in the snow :)

IMG_0556.jpg

IMG_0559.jpg

then i started finding problems.....

i knew that the ignition was obviously broken by the fact you had to put the key in then shove a screwdriver in another ignition to crank it lol

so had to pull everything out of the dash and find the tinyest hardest screw to find I've ever seen on the steering column lol

IMG_0536.jpg

while taking the inside apart i obviously realised the windows didnt work prize to whoever spots why : / (dont ask me why it took so long to realise that haha)

IMG_0530.jpg

other things I've realised that i should have looked into before buying is because of age there is no power steering, central locking, power windows and there is just too many dents and bent panels for me to contemplate really doing anything radical...

soooo its up for sale

i have invested in a completely standard 99 1.4 8v polo with power steering and all that :)

nice drive back from derby to newport in brill weather

IMG_0573-1.jpg

and to make things better it cut out on the way back and just wouldnt start again.

having no tools on us the AAA were called and fair play to the guy he was a bit of a legend

the dizzy cap had shattered the insides? common problem on the polos apparently?

so eventually got it home, did an oil change filter change and changed the pads straight away

IMG_0575-1.jpg

IMG_0577-1.jpg

so first thing i did was chuck the wheels on looked like a monster truck being so high with the wheels haha

DSC_0003.jpg

COILOVERRRRRSSSSSS :) for my bday

DSC_0001.jpg

so it obviously had to be dropped to the floor

DSC_0011.jpg

DSC_0007.jpg

DSC_0005-1.jpg

but i didnt like the way it sat on the arches and the stance it had.

so i looked into arch rolling, was a bit pricey to have it done, so thought i would give it a crack myself, how hard can it be aye.

IMG_0596.jpg

back arch went surprisingly well in all fairness.

IMG_0591.jpg

IMG_0594.jpg

the front

IMG_0603.jpg

was alot of work and alot of doing it then not liking it so doing it again and all that but i think it was worth saving my money and doing it just me and a few mates.

ground it down and fillered it up

IMG_0634.jpg

IMG_0635.jpg

IMG_0600.jpg

took loads of work fillering then rubbing down over and over again, trying to get a straight arch and whatnot.

IMG_0636.jpg

happy with it like this and now ill get it even lower :)

and yes a ps2 controller because well why not like

well thats it for now. thoughts, opinions, questions and what i should do next all appreciated and ill update more as i go along

Coming along quite nicely, nice ST btw lol well all your family cars really nice  what are you planning on doing with the rear lights (99 polo) becaues they arent there in any of the pictures? Are you planning on swaping the bumpers over? oh and if you want remote central locking there are loads of kits online, just get one with a decent flip key =P

Loving the PS2 controller haha if i did that i know its just going to get nicked round my area lol

PS2 controller best be a joke?

I wouldn't want that coming through my windscreen on the motorway because it fell off your car....

Blue one looks good though, really good choice of wheels. Not really a fan of the green one, nato green does nothing for me!

IMG_0648.jpg

Cue jealous comments about having everything paid for by parents...

in no way does that polo look out of place amongst rangeys and bentleys

good work with the arch flaring. what offset are the rears?

  • Author

yeah lights I'm robbing them off the green one just haven't got round to re wiring, the clear front indicators, clear side repeaters and all red tail lights shall all be taken.

was going to take the 16v bumpers off the green but tbh they are cracked and missing the grills and all that so I'm just going to buy some cheap one off here and smooth the top grills,

ANYONE GOT ANY V CHEAP 16V BUMPERS GOING ? any condition really

yeah deffo going to get a nice little flip key on the go ;)

the remotes tie strapped on it aint going no where hahah nah in all honesty it wont be there long just a joke between mates like.

get replaced with a fluffy teddy or something

yeah the green was also painted with a roller lmao

royal3 what do you mean by offset bud ? asked my dad if i could have the brown diamond stitch interior out of the bentley should have seen his face hahah would make a good edition though

wahey mummys boy

i was looking to buy that nato polo, went for a bargain, good luck with it

FK power look headlights, rolled front arches , maybe smooth Ariel, side repeaters/front bumper vent/vents your choice maybe some Schmidt/BBS for summer time :)? looks sick on them steeles tho! and slam it on its arse, full interior retrim maybe get some recaros and do some crazy color, under the hood put some 1.8 supercharge v5 or somthing :D at this point you have won the lottery :)

update,

decided i didnt want my sub just chucked in a box in my boot, saw a couple of fake floor boot build things so thought i would give it a go like.

just made a template of the boot with cardboard then cut it into wood.

decided to go for fairly thick wood to stop as much vibration as i could

cut the hole for the sub

IMG_0709.jpg

put foam over it then so it was a bit padded and let the leatherette move a little

IMG_0710.jpg

chucked the leatherette on and stapled it at the bottom

IMG_0711.jpg

really pleased with it :)

IMG_0712.jpg

hope you like
