I've just turned 19. Welllllllll I pay for the insurance and have since I was 17. But basically I bought a 1987 Nissan micra for £50 insured that as my own policy that lets me drive any car :) brought insurance fron 8k to £700 a year :) I could quite easily ask for the money but tbh I get a lot more out of doing and building things myself because I will look after them alot more. BUILT NOT BOUGHT ;)

Cheers larry6n2. I sure will :)

Nicely done :) I cant blame you for being sneeky! And they're all just jealous...

I did a simlar thing :) the company i worked for bought my Gti for me and paid for the insurance when i was 17 as it would have been 6k :/ but now I've bought it off them and have my own insurance :D

I'm going to start a build thread tomorrow hopefull if i get time...

Insurance is a complete rip off anyway so anyway to get round it helps. Must have been a damn good job dude.

Defo get a build thread up it's interesting to get thoughts and opinions and does really help. I'll be interested to see what you got going on.

Don't you have to be over 21 to be covered third party on another car? And also the car has to have a main policy to allow that? I could be wrong, or you could be meaning something completey different :)

That's with most policies yes but you need to do a lot of shopping around for one that covers you for any age. Nope if you are the main policy holder on any car it insures you to drive any other car with the owners permission. More and more companies are catching on to it and changing their terms though. That's why I have had to change company every year haha

mate, at least three cars in your driveway picture with all the cars (drool) cost more than my house.

seriously, you are not skint.

i dont mean that in a insulting way I'm not one of those guys who hates on people because they're doing well for themselves, more power to you, and those cars are awesome but seriously i doubt your skint haha

hmm.

1. being the policy holder doesnt automatically mean you have third party extension, its an optional extra. true most companies used to include it for no extra cost on fully comp policies but its still an extra thing and youve always had to check they were giving you it as some companies didnt include it free, and now most dont.

2. basically no companies do it for under 25s anymore, IF you have it on your current policy i doubt youll be able to find a company to give you it again next year without spending a fortune extra to get it.

3. you didnt say it but on the subject, people always think that fully comp means you have this, not true. I've had 3rd party policies where it was included FOC and i have fully comp without it now, first year i haven't been able to get it.

4. in relation to what someone else above said, if i have a policy with 3rd party extension you dont have to have your car insured for me to drive it as my insurance is covering it whilst i am driving it. it does need to be motd and taxed tho.

also you're not allowed to drive any other cars that YOU own on 3rd party extension, so you'll have to have the focus registered to your mum or something and pretend its hers. dont forget that the registered keeper and the owner are two different things, so you will have to be able to prove she owns it as well as just having the v5 in her name. basically the whole insuring a micra yourself and driving your "mums" focus st third party is insurance fraud, is illegal, and you are barely covered at all I've never heard of a case where someone driving like this has been involved in an incident and not been caught out and prosecuted.

you are very foolish if thats what you are doing. i wouldnt drive that focus on a third party policy in my own name never mind in this sketchy barely-insured-at-all fraudulent way. its funny how you and the other young noobs in here think you are a genius for thinking of this way to "get round" insurance but trust me youre not, many people have been there before you and got caught out by it. you're basically an uninsured driver if they find out which they have ways of doing, they have been dealing with people doing this for decades seriously.

people doing this is in fact the reason why insurance companies have stopped offering 3rd party extension to people under 25, i couldnt get it this year at all (I'm 23) must have rung 100 companies, noone would give me it even if i paid extra for it on the policy. who are you with?

also, how have you been taxing it with no insurance documentation relating to this car?

i put it to you that if you can afford such a car you can afford to insure it, and if you cant you shouldnt have it.

I'm not trying to be a spoilsport I'm a pretty young guy too i like fun with fast cars etc and believe me I'm always up for getting one over on the government/insurance companies/tax/other scumbags but this is one thing i wouldnt do. i urge you to think about the risks of what you are doing, you are basically throwing away the money you are paying to insure the micra as your basically uninsured in the focus.

dont take this the wrong way man I'm just tryin to give you some advice, i guess youll not listen tho as most guys your age think they're the first genius to think of anything and that its a great idea etc. I've seen a couple of people caught doing this (it was very popular thing to do in n.i, the n.i insurance companies were the first to stop offering 3rd party extension to under 25s as a result) and it weren;t pretty.

in short, you've been driving the ST illeagly.

If your are alowed to drive any car (very doubtful) the policy will have a car value limit, and bhp limit.

And you own the ST, so it rules any of this out anyway.

I wonder if a copper would actualy donkey punch you in the face if you said "well yeah, I'm insured on my micra so I'm insured for the ST"

Back on topic, polo...

FORDE

your right in everything you say, but the car has tax, MOT and insured under my dads company and he is the owner and registered keeper, he does limos so its a motor trader policy. like i said i did a lot of shopping round to get the right policy used to be with quiin but they stopped it last year, I'm with another company now they cover any age if you have a full policy to drive any vehicle 3rd party no matter the value or the power even if its a left hooker as long as you have the owners permission. I've done it since i was 17 and i had an astra vxr as my first car which i got pulled a lot in as you can imagine, the coppers have been through my policy and paper work enough times for me to be sure that i am covered and it is fully legal :)

sorry if i didnt make everything clear the first couple of times

but yes back to the polooooo

ssoooooo i have

tinted the back windows limo black and replaced the door speakers with some half decent jbl's

IMG_0621.jpg

got a 16v front bumper that i will be smoothing out the top vents.

once all the smoothing is done it will be going will be going off for a full respray

I'm thinking the new sirocco green with my steels in either matt or gloss black

what you recon ?

What company are you with? :D

I'm pretty sure there are still restrictions on the 3rd part extension.....for a start i wouldnt want to be driving the ST 3rd party, i mean have a bump and enjoy paying the repair costs...well actually, looking at those cars in the drive i cant see it been an issue....

Secondly if your actually driving the ST as your MAIN car then the 3rd party extension would not be sufficient would it?

try doing all that work actually been skint...much harder.

On topic Polo looking good, nice job with the arches and tints.

Looking forward to the progress mate ;)

Viper green will be good, I wanted my rocco in this colour but I couldn't afford to wait being a work vehicle

your focus sounds nuts mate! really like what you are doing with the polo buddy the arches are looking good. :-D

Polos look good......nice to see you doing work yourself.

The ST is ruined! fake carbon....lambo doors.....really. Shows your age i suppose. (each to their own!)

I'm pretty sure you are "obtaining insurance by deception" by buying a car to use the insurance to drive a different car. and if the company finds out you are the main user of a car that is owned and insured by someone else they WONT pay out.

Whats been done to the focus to nearly double its power? 400BHP on stock brakes by the look?!?

The carbon is real :) front grill and fog surrounds cost £580 lol

Everything was done by a guy that owned it before me who is the captain of a boat for ab Arab family. He built it for the nurberg but never got to take it round lol

The lambo doors were done by me and yes they are a mistake I hate them lol but the doors open like normal and then go up so they are still usable.

Urm well I have a folder of over 28k spent on it lol

It has the 380bhp upgrade all done by the owner of puma speed which is remapped different turbo exhaust ecu loads of things with that I would have to look up lol

The it's been de cat updated brakes everything under the bonnet is carbon (real ;) and samco hoses. Just put leather

recaros in, different boot, taillights, different rear and front splitter. Honestly there is loads done lol

I know the risks of doing my insurance and if I do crash into someone we will do everything in house hopefully because I wouldn't want to loose my no claims anyway. Soon as I'm a decent age with more no claims it will be done legit. If no one risked anything no one would get anything they wanted haha

Yeah I can see how you would say that from the pics because the photo is focused on them kind of thing but in all fairness it's really subtle. Was going to have my bonnet wraped black aswell as the wing mirrors and roof and wheels with chrome lips what you recon ?

Ayyyeee I know exactly what you mean and I am at that point I'm bored of it sat in the garage with now motivation to get it done : /

Thinking of selling and buying a 16v and going in a completely different direction : / x

LOVE the focus!! my mates got a remapped ST and thats quick enough so yours must be mental! dont quite understand why some people are questionning your carbon fibre bits, if you say they're real then what does it matter to other people, just my opinion :)

Polo looks sweet too, shame your thinking of selling up cos i think it could look spot on if you finishd it!

loving both cars to be honest mate :).... bit of jealousy coming out with people questioning what your saying about the focus...

Yah I agree, I love that focus and I am jealous but i'd do the same if I were in your position. Dont get why people make stupid comments.

And I can imagine this polo turning out to be quite nice... Especially as your doing the work yourself.

Keep it coming :D

polomon- i haven't spent any money on the focus, apart from the doors off a scrap car and all fitted by me and my dad. and leathers which were a bargain that i will profit when i sell anywayyy :)
