I have just bought that part of ebay, exactly from that seller.

LOL small world

have you fitted it yet?

still need to order mine but not sure if i need the whole kit

I have a 3 door mk5 TDI and during the summer my driver`s electric window stopped going back up, I had to grab the damn thing and pull it up. Went down perfect. I don`t buy the whole thing about just needing a couple of plastic clips. My motor was shagged from 9 years of going up and down..

I bought a new regulator which includes the motor from a lad on here breaking a mk5, fitted it and it works perfectly now. German and Swedish wanted over £150, best to keep an eye out for somebody breaking a GTI pal. Also, I would never recommend closing ure door when you`ve got ure windows down, it`s not good for the mechs. Just listen to the noise it makes when it slams to

Doesn't have to be a GTI breaking, can be any electric window 6N2. Obviously 3 door and 5 door are different so get the right one.

Neither of my windows work, but I've got two new regulators waiting to go in, just can't be bothered right now but will give it a shot next week probably.

mine done the same dakota

only i grabbed it the other day as the safety thing came in and it started to go down and i pulled it out of the clip but now it goes up and down fine its just a bit wonky haha

thanks for the info guys. i got the car last night. and can confirm it is both windows. does anyone have the part number for the plastic clips? the ebay link suggests its for the 6n not 6n2. i will try the clips first as they seem to be the cheapest trial and error option to start with. also how easy are the door cards to remove? many thanks all

regards James

edit. found this might be a cheap fix http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtop...a450e69379b7bb7

ok had door cards off today. and been on this for hours now. got the drivers working pretty sweet. but still some resistance. can anyone confirm if the silver parts in the photos are the broken clips that i read about?? they dont look like other photos i have seen. the passenger is bein a right pain in the ass. i have been on it for hours but its got to be the motor i guess. goes down in a flash but can make it all the wa back up but as if its caught on something or something is resisting. but cant find anything. grrr. new motors i guess. had a shot tho lol

Lol the pics bring back the memories, i also found out that it was the clips, but i also changed all of the wire.

Haha how horny is that.

On moms polo the front right lifter was broken a couple of weeks ago. It was just the cable.

I didn't know that there are repair-kits for that... till i saw that thread here... 19,99Euros for the cable..... and i just got both front lifters from a friend who slaughted a polo 5door..... so i still have got the broken one, will repair it now and then i have lifters for a 5doors polo left and right side in stock.... for moms polo or for my polo.

Man, i thought i will throw it into the bin..... now this forum realy helped me to save some money.

How horny is that? :lol::lol::lol:

Thx M8's

cheers

the plastic clips are what break, the grey bits.

Spoke to a vw technician when I was picking up my aerial this morning. He said if the clips are good then it's the regulators. When I get paid I'll pop up local breakers. As I've greased the regulators up and stuff. Worked for 2 days and now it broke again. The clamp nearest the rear on each window is badly designed as if you close the door with the window open it pops off the regulator guide. I plan to cable tie these 2 bits together to prevent this happening again. As I think this is the main reason to this problem. As if the clamp comes of the runner the window stresses then the clips break. Then the regulator wears

the plastic clips are what break, the grey bits.

No, there are different parts that "always" breaks.

I have got my black 3doors now since 96, never had a problem.

My sisters 97 5doors once had the wire broken, bought a complete lifter from the scrapyard.

Three weeks ago moms 97 3doors had the lifter broken, it was also the wire....

Also there may be cars where the plastic clips breaks, also i heard of broken lifters where the motor was smoking and breaking.

And VW itself once had an DIY (for the garages) with what to do if you have got a mk4 (only mk4!!!) 2doors and here it is.... isn't it time for a clubpolo mediathek?

Cos i don't wanna host that video a long time on my server....

Here ist is, 24MB:

thanks for your advice guys. also thanks for the video. I'm gonna remove 1 side and look at this properly to diagnose what exactly i need to replace. my clips seems fine from what i can tell. I'm assuming it must be the wire part now. once i have this all out the door completely i will have a better understanding than from working with it all fitted in a tight door panel. i will keep note of what i find incase it can help others out. just need to figure how to wedge the glass in the door as the reg and motor will be out for some time. any ideas?

regards James.

tape from the frame to the glass (inside), it worked in my cases of broken lifters...

cheers

SUCCESS!! WINDOWS BOTH WORKING PERFECT!!

took me a few hours but this was the problem. and i found the remedy. + grease everything! whilst doorcards were off flushed my door pins too! good day!

note. this can be an easy fix if you are not going to grease the motors etc. just remove the rear (door handle guide) regulator guide bar from the door and then remove the guide from the bottom of the door opening and flip over. can be done easily and you can fix the bracket with the washer + spring + screw and then reassemble.

1. How it Should Look

2. Broken Clip (When broken closing the door with the window down, the clamp jumps off the regulator and hense window strain etc etc)

Sorry to bring up an old thread! Have yet another damn problem with my car!

Windows worked fine untill the other day i went to lock my car, and as you may know if you twist and hold the windows will go up, well in my case the passenger window didnt go all the way up.

I was faffing' about with it trying to get it back up with no luck! so i decided to stupidly try pull the window up which worked untill i put the window back down - the window didnt want to come back up!

now the problem i have is that the window will go down fine, and them it seems to spaz out and wont come back up untill i pull the window all the way up and then use the switch to wind the window up to hold it in place?

I've taken the doorcard off but i really have no idea what I'm doing or looking at!!!

Any help will be appreciated!

I had this exact problem, you need a new regualtor. The motor is no longer strong enough to push the weight of the window back up

Is it an easy fix? Would i be able to do it myself even though I'm not excatly technically-minded!

Anyone know if theres a step-by-step guide? had a look but couldnt find nothing :(

Sorry for the massive necro, but all the pictures in this topic are dead. Both the windows on my three-door Polo 6N have had struggles with going up even before I bought the car, the driver's side window being the worst. Since I've gotten a set of ClimAirs the driver's side actually seems like the better one. I've been wanting to fix both windows for a while now so if anyone has pictures of the procedure - especially the location of the clasps that prevent the window from going up faster at one side than the other - they'd be of great help.
